Fans Support Jackson Wang Amid N-Word Allegations; Eric Nam’s Studio Issues Response

Controversy Surrounds Jackson Wang’s Appearance on Daebak Show

On April 10, 2025, Jackson Wang, a singer from Hong Kong and former member of the K-pop sensation GOT7, found himself embroiled in a controversy after being accused of using a racial slur on Eric Nam’s Daebak Show.

The claims stemmed from a segment aired on April 8, 2025, where viewers alleged that Jackson had used the N-word during his guest appearance. The episode featured hosts Eric Nam, Ashley Choi, and BTOB’s Peniel, with Jackson as the featured guest, and became a viral topic of discussion online.

DIVE Studios Responds to Allegations

In response to the growing uproar, DIVE Studios, the production company behind the show, released the original clip to clarify the situation. They asserted that the version circulating on social media had been manipulated, which misrepresented Jackson’s words. DIVE Studios stated:

“We want to address the serious and misleading allegations currently circulating online regarding a recent clip featuring Jackson on DIVE. We do not take this situation lightly and want to provide clear context: 1. In the original, unedited clip, Jackson says ‘brother.’ 2. A separate, edited version is being shared that is inaccurate and misleading.”

“Out of an abundance of caution, the decision was made to remove this portion from the YouTube video due to concerns around potential misrepresentation. For full transparency, here is the original, unedited video:”

Social Media Backlash and Defense

The controversy escalated when a netizen, known as @__sayn__, posted a clip highlighting a gaming segment from the Daebak Show. In the video, Jackson humorously tossed a notepad after receiving an incorrect answer, which some misinterpreted. The netizen alleged that DIVE Studios had altered their YouTube video to obscure the purported slur but failed to do so on Weibo, where the original clip was shared.

Supporters of Jackson Wang rallied to defend him, pointing out that DIVE Studios does not have a Weibo account. This assertion further discredited the netizen’s claims, leading many fans to criticize them for disseminating false accusations.

“That’s ridiculous! Many people just watch a clip with ‘b—‘, you may not even hear what he said clearly, but some are ‘sure’ he said the N-word. Even after the unedited version was released, some still spread misleading tweets,”one supporter commented.

Fans emphasized Jackson’s track record, asserting that he has consistently shown respect for all cultures and has never used racially charged language. Many expressed frustration at the hasty conclusions drawn by others.

“It’s saddening that it had to come to this just because of someone throwing things out of context & calling it racial. Jackson is professional & has always respected all races. There’s NO WAY he would use any slurs against any ethnicities!”another fan stated.

“Oh, y’all are STUPID, taking a video where you ‘think’ you heard him say the N-word and acting like he actually did is so stupid. Thank god they shared the full clip because some of you can’t do your own research,”added another fan.

Fallout and Apologies Requested

After the rebuttal from DIVE Studios, @__sayn__ made their profile private, prompting fans to demand an apology for spreading misinformation about Jackson Wang.

“I’m glad they addressed it and posted. It just irks me that Jackson literally gets treated like a demon when he hasn’t shown himself to be one,”a fan remarked.

“@__sayn__ now what? You went private. OF COURSE. Delete all your messy tweets and apologize since YOU STARTED THIS,”another criticized.

“Kpop stans on the quotes trying to turn valid criticisms into racism because they can’t accept they were wrong, what a joke. You were NOT right to jump to conclusions and spread misinformation without clear proof of your allegations. Act like adults,”another user added.
