Understanding Fortnite Reboot Cards: A Comprehensive Guide

Experiencing defeat in Fortnite Battle Royale can be quite disheartening. However, there is an exhilarating aspect to the game when a friend remains in the match, capable of resurrecting fallen teammates. Thanks to the inclusion of Reboot Cards in Fortnite, players can return to the battlefield even after being eliminated, making it easier to pursue that elusive Victory Royale.

With the updates introduced in Chapter 6, Season 2, the process of rebooting teammates has been streamlined. Understanding how to effectively bring friends back into the action is essential for improving your squad’s chances of success.

The Reboot Van 2.0

Players can acquire a Reboot Card for 500 Gold at designated Reboot Vans scattered throughout the map. This is contingent upon the condition that a teammate has perished and their Reboot Card remains unclaimed. This functionality allows players to bypass potential confrontations by heading directly to a Reboot Van to purchase their comrade’s card instead of risking their life in the vicinity of the elimination site.

Utilizing Reboot Cards is the safest method to revive teammates, especially considering that rival teams may ambush the area where an ally was defeated. Acquiring a Reboot Card for 500 Gold is a worthy investment for reviving a teammate.

In addition to purchasing, players can retrieve Reboot Cards from the ground following a teammate’s demise. These cards are exclusive to real players involved in Duos, Trios, or Squads, and will not drop in Solo matches or by NPC allies. When a player falls, their Reboot Card appears on the ground as an item that must be collected by walking over it.

The Reboot Cards remain available for 265 seconds, providing plenty of time for teammates to locate and retrieve them. Players can also track the cards’ locations on their minimap as well as through indications on the in-game HUD.

To deploy a Reboot Card, players must bring it to any active Reboot Van, identifiable on the map by a blue icon. Once at the van, players will need to interact with it; note that activating the Reboot Van takes 10 seconds. This duration can be reduced if multiple allies assist by holding the interact button simultaneously.

The process of rebooting carries inherent risks. A visual audio cue is triggered for players within a 100-meter radius of the Reboot Van, alerting them to your rebooting activity, and making the area a prime target for enemies. Additionally, a prominent blue beam shoots into the sky upon successfully rebooting a player, marking the location and potentially drawing attention from other players.

Once the reboot process is completed, the revived player will materialize back into the match, able to glide towards teammates or move away strategically. However, they will spawn with only a Common Pistol, requiring immediate looting to regain a competitive edge in the battle.
