World of Warcraft: Top Classes and Specializations for Delving Explored

Exploring Delves in World of Warcraft (WoW) can seem daunting for new players, but there’s no need for concern! While it is largely advertised as a solitary venture accompanied by the NPC Brann Bronzebeard, you can embark on Delves alongside guildmates or even strangers. Despite initial impressions, Delves are quite manageable with the right approach.

When it comes to classes suitable for Delving, nearly any choice can lead to success. While some classes may face more challenges than others, the experience is typically less frustrating than anticipated. Furthermore, this season offers enticing rewards, making it a great time for players to dive into Delves. Let’s explore the best classes and specs for these adventures in WoW.

Optimal Classes and Specs for Delving in WoW

Although many classes excel in Delves, tank specs tend to have a distinct advantage. Enter the Delves with a DPS Brann, and you’ll find that tackling Tier 8 through Tier 11 encounters will be relatively easy.

Regardless of the tank you choose—be it a Protection Warrior, Protection Paladin, Vengeance Demon Hunter, Blood Death Knight, or Brewmaster Monk—each brings essential tools for both survivability and damage output.

However, it isn’t just tanks that find success in Delving. My personal experiences suggest that classes such as the Retribution Paladin and Frost Mage can solo these encounters quite easily. Retribution Paladins benefit from their healing abilities, high armor, and damage potential—which includes skills like Divine Shield and Lay on Hands for sustainability. On the other hand, Frost Mages excel at crowd control, utilizing their kiting capabilities to unleash significant critical damage while evading attackers. In these instances, I often prefer the support of Healer Brann to manage unexpected challenges.

In addition to these classes, Pet Classes, particularly Beast Mastery Hunters and Demonology Warlocks, thrive in Delves as well. In fact, Beast Mastery Hunters can tackle Delves so effectively that healer support from Brann may not even be necessary—DPS Brann is usually sufficient. Meanwhile, Demonology Warlocks boast a plethora of allies, strong AoE capabilities, and exceptional survival tools, positioning them as formidable contenders.

For a quick reference, here are my top five class and spec recommendations for Delving in WoW:

  • Vengeance Demon Hunter
  • Protection Paladin
  • Demonology Warlock
  • Beast Mastery Hunter
  • Blood Death Knight

While these are my personal favorites, many other classes and specs can prove effective for Delving adventures. Just because your preferred class isn’t listed doesn’t lessen its viability; there are certainly roles, including healers, that can navigate Delves, albeit at a potentially slower pace. I encourage players to explore their comfort zones and choose their favorite classes, as personal enjoyment translates to better performance in Delves.
