Path of Exile 2 Guide: How to Acquire Pets

As a quintessential Action RPG, Path of Exile 2 offers an extensive array of equipment that not only enhances gameplay but also reflects individual style. Players are often delighted to customize their characters, down to the smallest details, such as adorning them with an appealing pet companion.

In Path of Exile 2, pets serve purely a cosmetic function, meaning they do not influence your character’s build or abilities. However, they undoubtedly contribute to a more personalized gameplay experience.

Understanding Pets in Path of Exile 2

While the gear you equip affects your stats and abilities, pets in Path of Exile 2 are simply a matter of aesthetic preference. They behave like any other piece of equipment, adding flair without providing any combat advantages. Regardless of how formidable a pet may appear, it will not aid you in battle or enhance your stats.

Interestingly, players can equip up to two pets simultaneously. These adorable companions follow you on your journey but remain indifferent to enemy encounters. Furthermore, players can place them in their hideouts, where they will roam freely and engage in whimsical behaviors.

Equipping pets is user-friendly. You simply need to access the customization menu located in the Cosmetics section, which can be opened by pressing the M key. From there, select the Pet option to choose and equip your desired companions.

Despite their cosmetic nature, acquiring pets can be challenging, especially during the Early Access phase. Currently, players have a limited number of options to obtain pets in Path of Exile 2.

Purchase Supporter Packs

The most straightforward method to acquire a pet is by purchasing one of the Supporter Packs. Specifically, the Lord of Ogham and King of the Faridun packs include pets, while the Early Access Supporter Pack does not offer any pet rewards. Available pets include:

  • Lord of Ogham – Includes the Lord of Ogham Kiwi Pet and the Baby Crowbell Pet.
  • King of the Faridun – Features the King of the Fairdun Kiwi Pet, Lord of Ogham Kiwi Pet, and Baby Crowbell Pet.

Transfer from Path of Exile 1

Players who have accumulated pets in the original Path of Exile can transfer them to Path of Exile 2, although most pets will remain unavailable until the full game is released.

In-Game Shop Purchases

Additionally, players have the option to buy various pets directly from the in-game shop using Points. Prices vary depending on the pet type:

  • Baby Boss Pet Variations: 230-250 Points
  • Tumbling Orb Pet Variations: 120-160 Points
  • Octoparasite Pet Variations: 150-190 Points
  • Suspicious Rock Pet Variations: 95-135 Points

Claim Twitch Drop Rewards

Finally, players should take advantage of Twitch Drop events when they arise. For instance, during December 2024, players watched streamers playing Path of Exile 2 to garner exclusive rewards, including unique pets. While these promotions are time-sensitive, they present an excellent opportunity to enhance your pet collection.
