“What you see is what you get. My best friend, my mentor, and my idol … Thank you for being the only star we ever need to meet,” Hunter expressed with heartfelt emotion.
Matthew McConaughey also shared his experience of meeting Fieri, reminiscing about his time on the road and his growing fandom of Fieri’s show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
McConaughey recounted that after obtaining Fieri’s contact information, he reached out while in Spokane, Washington, requesting dining recommendations. This initial interaction blossomed into a friendship as the actor continued to seek Fieri’s culinary advice.
“Guy came into this business when food being on TV wasn’t really a business at all. It was a time when food was going from just being a meal on our plates to being entertainment and must-watch TV. And in a business where you can be anyone you want to be, [pointing at Guy Fieri] you’ve been you the whole time,”McConaughey reflected.
When it was finally Fieri’s turn to speak, he expressed deep gratitude to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, particularly to producer Ana Martinez, for considering him for such an honor. He remarked that calling this moment a career highlight would be a “gross understatement”and shared his astonishment at receiving the recognition.
Fieri dedicated this milestone to those who have supported him throughout his journey, urging them to view his star as theirs and to visit it whenever possible.
“I want you to come and visit our star. And I want to tell you one last thing. I want to thank you for just taking one day and letting Hollywood become flavor town,”he concluded, leaving a lasting impression on all in attendance.
