The Tame Beast Skill in Path of Exile 2 stands out as a distinctive feature, enabling virtually any character build to summon a permanent companion to support them in combat, all at the cost of some Spirit. This skill enhances gameplay dynamics by allowing players to harness the strength of various creatures in the game.
Understanding Tame Beast in PoE 2

Tame Beast is classified as a Skill Gem that allows players to capture beast-type monsters and bring them into battle as permanent, reviving companions. However, only Rare beast-type monsters are eligible for taming. These beast companions come equipped with four monster modifiers, which can include various auras, thus making them incredibly advantageous under the right circumstances.

The mechanics of this skill are straightforward. While sporting the Tame Beast Skill, players can view nearby enemy categories, making it easier to identify beast-type monsters. Upon activating the skill on a rare beast-type target, an Azmeri Wisp debuff is applied, which lasts between 8 to 11.8 seconds, based on the Skill Gem’s level. Should the targeted monster be defeated within this timeframe, it will be captured and transformed into a Companion Summoning Gem.
Upon utilization, the original Tame Beast Skill Gem is consumed and permanently converted into a Companion Gem.
Summoning Your Companion Gem in PoE 2

To bring forth your beast companion, you’ll need a specific amount of Spirit to dedicate to the Companion Gem. Recall that larger and more formidable companions demand a greater Spirit cost. Once you have accumulated enough Spirit, activate the Companion Gem by right-clicking on its icon in your Skills menu.
It’s important to note that a Companion Gem created through the Tame Beast Skill is account-bound, thus cannot be traded with other users. Furthermore, players are restricted to summoning only one Tame Beast concurrently, meaning only one reviving companion can be present on the battlefield at a time.
Optimal Strategies for Tame Beast in PoE 2

To successfully locate a permanent beast companion using Tame Beast, players must venture into the vast world to seek out tamable beast-type monsters. While this can be a lengthy process through traditional gameplay, there exists a location within the campaign that features infinite spawns of rare beast-type monsters under certain conditions. Here’s a step-by-step approach:
- Teleport to Infested Barrens (Act 3).
- Locate the Troubled Camp on the map, where you’ll encounter Sebastian Carroway by a tent.
- Activate the nearby Checkpoint.
- Enter the Troubled Camp to find two rare beast-type monsters spawning.
- Should the beast modifiers align with your preferences, engage the Tame Beast Skill to capture them.
- If the aura of the monster does not suit your needs, simply pause and select “Respawn at Checkpoint.”
- This respawn mechanism will reintroduce the rare monsters with new rare modifiers if they were not defeated.
- This process can be repeated indefinitely, allowing for precise selection of desired rare beasts for your Tame Beast Skill.
This strategy can also be employed in the Troubled Camp within the Jungle Ruins; the distinction is that the Infested Barrens Camp features two Rare Antlion Chargers, while the Jungle Ruins showcases two Rare Quadrillas. Be aware that if you defeat the rare monsters, you’ll need to exit the map and re-enter via CTRL+Click
to reset the instance and revive all monsters within.
