Longtime enthusiasts of Superman may believe they know all there is to know about the Daily Planet; however, this beloved element of the Superman universe is poised for an exciting transformation. This fresh reinterpretation promises to introduce unexpected twists, making the upcoming series more captivating than ever.
The highly anticipated Summer of Superman initiative, a hub of content centered around the Man of Steel and his family, is on the horizon. A standout offering among this slew of new titles is Superman Unlimited, crafted by the talented duo Dan Slott and Rafael Albuquerque. This series is set to revise existing lore while creating meaningful expansions that will reverberate throughout other Superman narratives within the DC universe.

A transformative change on the horizon is the modernization of the Daily Planet, the iconic workplace of Clark Kent. In a surprising twist, the paper will now contend against a formidable foe: PODCASTERS!

At WonderCon, Dan Slott shared intriguing details about his upcoming endeavors, particularly highlighting changes to the Daily Planet. He teased a competitive atmosphere among its journalists, akin to the “Capra” style of storytelling, where reporters engage in fierce battles for exclusives. Notably, they will grapple with a new contender: Jack Ryder, better known as THE CREEPER.
Although The Creeper is often overlooked in the DC pantheon, he recently made a splash in Joshua Williamson’s Superman #24, teaming up with Lois Lane’s Superwoman. In a bold move, DC is positioning Jack Ryder as a journalist—more specifically, a podcaster rivaling the Daily Planet. Slott divulged that The Creeper’s podcast will be named No Laughing Matter, a phrase whose unsettling resonance evokes the notorious Joker.

In addition to introducing The Creeper’s rival podcast, the Daily Planet is set for a significant expansion. The newspaper will establish branches across key locations in the DC Universe, including Gotham, Star City, and even Themyscira. This expansion not only enhances the paper’s reach but bolsters its presence beyond Metropolis. In an unexpected twist, Jimmy Olsen will be stationed at the Gotham office and will be outfitted with a Bat-Signal Watch, formally retiring his longtime Superman timepiece. Clearly, the Daily Planet is experiencing a transformative evolution.
