South of Midnight: A New Adventure on the Horizon
The highly anticipated single-player action-adventure game, South of Midnight, is under development by Compulsion Games and will be published by Xbox Game Studios. Set to launch on April 8, 2025, the game will be available on both Windows and Xbox Series X/S. As it stands, there are no plans for a release on the Nintendo Switch.
Will South of Midnight be Ported to Nintendo Switch?
Currently, Compulsion Games operates as a first-party developer for Microsoft, meaning South of Midnight remains exclusive to PC and Xbox platforms. Nevertheless, there has been a growing trend of console-exclusive titles making their way to other platforms, raising questions about potential future ports.
In a recent interview with GamerTag Radio, held at the 13:30 mark, Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, expressed his enthusiasm for supporting Nintendo’s system. While no official announcements have been made regarding South of Midnight’s availability on the Switch, his comments suggest an openness to potential future collaborations.
“Nintendo, in their innovation and what they mean in this industry, I just always applaud the moves they make. I think they did like a little flash video. I know we’ll get more detail over time, really looking forward to supporting them with the games that we have, and I just think they are such an important part of the industry.”
The possibility of a Nintendo Switch port for South of Midnight will likely hinge on its success and Microsoft’s overall strategies regarding platform expansion.
Dive into the World of South of Midnight

Set in a gothic fantasy world, South of Midnight takes cues from the rich folklore of the American South. Its art style draws inspiration from traditional stop-motion puppetry, extending to the game’s cutscenes, which are crafted to reflect this aesthetic. The soundtrack features music that celebrates various Southern genres and incorporates unique regional instruments.
On launch day, the game will not only be available for standard purchases but will also join the Xbox Game Pass lineup, making it accessible to subscribers. Additionally, fans will be pleased to know that it will be compatible with the Steam Deck.
