Fans Push for Jeon Jungkook’s Role in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Excitement has erupted among BTS fans regarding the possibility of Jeon Jungkook joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). On April 6, 2025, the X account @TheePopCore revealed that Marvel Studios is actively seeking an Asian actor aged between 30 and 50 for a pivotal role in the anticipated film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
In response to this announcement, social media users quickly rallied around Jungkook, highlighting the 27-year-old’s athletic ability, charm, and stage presence as ideal traits for a superhero. Fans flooded the comments section advocating for Jungkook, showcasing a united front in their desire to see him cast.
“It should be Jeon Jungkook,”one fan wrote.
“He is only 27… Yes!! SPIDEYKOOK is what the world wants. Let’s make it happen @MarvelStudios,”said another netizen.
“If you all are looking for an Asian Spider-Man, Jungkook is the answer. He possesses the charisma, charm, and even the skills needed for the role!”posted a user.
“Can fans submit Jungkook’s name to Marvel Studios? He’s light on his feet and excels in martial arts. Plus, he could easily manage the soundtrack!”commented another fan on X.
Despite the ongoing speculation, no formal casting announcements have been made. Nonetheless, the overwhelming support for Jungkook reflects a palpable enthusiasm for the potential of seeing him embody a superhero character.
“Jungkook would be the perfect fit—his talent, dedication, and hero appeal are undeniable! Plus, his soundtrack would be a hit!”a fan remarked.
“Perhaps they’ve noticed the viral edits of SpiderKOOK on TikTok and considered bringing an Asian Spider-Man to life,”suggested another supporter.
“Why focus on older actors when we have a 27-year-old Jungkook coming out of military service soon?”questioned a fan.
However, some fans speculated that the casting discussion might not be linked directly to the Spider-Man character but could instead relate to Mr. Negative, a supervillain who has often been depicted as Asian and is portrayed as older than Spider-Man, which aligns with the casting criteria. Others suggested alternative names from the Korean entertainment industry.
“JI CHANG WOOK, PACK YOUR BAGS, YOU HAVE A JOB!”urged one fan.
“GET SEOKJIN IN THAT AUDITION ROOM RIGHT NOW!”another netizen exclaimed.
Jungkook’s Generous Contribution for Wildfire Relief in South Korea
In a separate but equally heartwarming incident, Jungkook donated 1 billion KRW (about 750,000 USD) on March 28, 2025, to support recovery efforts for recent wildfires that devastated southeastern South Korea, particularly affecting Ulsan, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam. The Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association confirmed the donation on the same day.
From this generous contribution, 500 million KRW will be directed towards immediate relief assistance for displaced individuals, while the remaining half will support initiatives focused on enhancing firefighter welfare and aiding those engaged in firefighting operations. In a heartfelt statement, Jungkook shared:
“I hope this will provide some help to those weary and struggling. My wish is for everyone affected by these wildfires and those bravely fighting them to swiftly return to their everyday lives.”
Jungkook’s substantial donation places him among the top individual donors to Hope Bridge, alongside major corporations such as Samsung, who donated 3 billion KRW, and LG, We, and Hyundai, who contributed 2 billion KRW each.
In past philanthropic efforts, Jungkook made headlines in 2023 when he donated 1 billion KRW to assist the Seoul National University Children’s Hospital, aiming to support children from low-income families and bolster the hospital’s integrated care initiatives.
It’s worth noting that South Korea is currently grappling with severe wildfires intensified by strong winds and dry conditions, leading to significant destruction, displacing thousands, and resulting in numerous casualties.
Jungkook’s fellow BTS members also stepped up to contribute, with j-hope, Suga, and RM each donating 100 million KRW, while V contributed 200 million KRW. Jin proactively volunteered to serve meals to the firefighters and victims of the disaster.
Other notable donors include several K-pop groups, like IVE, MONSTA X, and LE SSERAFIM, as well as actors such as Byeon Woo-seok and Lee Jong-suk. Individual idols from various groups, including IU and TWICE’s Jihyo, also made donations.
Currently serving his mandatory military service, Jungkook enlisted on December 12, 2023, and is expected to be discharged in June 2025, around the same time as other BTS members who are also fulfilling their service obligations.
