Investigation into Schedule 1 for Potential Copyright Infringement Issues

Investigation Launched into Schedule 1 for Potential Copyright Infringement

Recent developments have emerged surrounding the indie game Schedule 1, which is under investigation for potential copyright infringement. Developed by TVGS (Tyler’s Video Game Studio), this title draws inspiration from the acclaimed series Breaking Bad and has gained significant popularity due to its engaging gameplay and diverse in-game features.

According to a report by the Polish Press Agency, the investigation is initiated by Movie Games S.A., the developers behind the Drug Dealer Simulator series. This inquiry raises concerns about possible infringements related to intellectual property rights.

The Popularity of Schedule 1 amidst Legal Scrutiny

Since its launch, Schedule 1 has quickly become a sensation, achieving an “Overwhelmingly Positive”rating and drawing over 130,000 concurrent players shortly after its release. In contrast, the team at Movie Games S.A. has reportedly conducted a comprehensive legal analysis concerning the potential copyright violations associated with the game.

“The Issuer will immediately inform about further actions related to the pursuit of claims regarding the infringement of the Issuer’s IP and the act of unfair competition in subsequent current reports.”

The legal scrutiny has cast a shadow over future plans for Schedule 1, as new updates and enhancements were anticipated. However, it appears the investigation is momentarily stalling TVGS’s momentum. Documentation related to the investigation indicates that specific components — including the game’s plot, mechanics, and user interface (UI) — are being examined in depth.

The inquiry commenced shortly after Schedule 1’s official release on March 25, 2025. As of now, there have been no substantial updates regarding the status of the investigation. Nevertheless, this situation may resonate with gamers familiar with previous copyright disputes, such as the notable case between Pokémon and Palworld.

Should Movie Games S.A. decide to proceed with this investigation, they will do so in alignment with Australian laws, given that TVGS operates out of Australia. At present, neither TVGS nor Movie Games S.A. has publicly commented on the investigation or its implications for Schedule 1.

Stay tuned for further updates as this story unfolds and to understand how it might affect the indie gaming landscape.
