The highly anticipated season 2 of A Couple of Cuckoos is set to make its debut in July 2025, as confirmed by the official staff on Sunday, April 6, 2025. A new promotional video and stunning visual were released, highlighting not only the upcoming season but also unveiling the anime’s ending theme song and pertinent details about the cast and production team.
Serving as a direct continuation of the original series, which aired a total of 24 episodes from April 2022 to October 2022, A Couple of Cuckoos is based on the manga created by Miki Yoshikawa. This popular series has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine since January 2020, boasting 26 published tankobon volumes to date.

The recent promotional teaser, shared via the series’ official online platforms, confirmed that A Couple of Cuckoos season 2 will premiere in July 2025. Although the clip builds excitement, it refrained from providing a precise release date, which is anticipated to be announced by the official team in due course.
Fans will be pleased to see familiar faces such as Nagi Umino, Erika Amano, Sachi Umino, and Hiro Segawa, alongside the introduction of a new character, Ai, who seems to play a significant role in the upcoming narrative.
The teaser also offers a sneak peek at the ending theme titled Anata de Nakucha (It Has to Be You), performed by 22/7. In addition to the teaser, the official website showcased a captivating key visual featuring Ai, who appears to be playfully interrupting Nagi and Erika with a “hush”gesture.
In terms of casting, Hina Yomiya will be portraying Ai Mochizuki, a lively character set to join the storyline. The sequel will also see the return of fan-favorite actors: Kaito Ishikawa as Nagi Umino, Konomi Kohara as Sachi Umino, Akari Kito as Erika Amano, and Nao Toyama as Hiro Segawa, among others, who are stepping back into their beloved roles.
As for the production team, there have been notable changes. Masakazu Hishida will be taking over as director from Yoshiyuki Shirahata, leading the artistic vision at Studio Okuruto Noboru. Jo Aooba will oversee script supervision, while Kyoko Chika will introduce new character designs. Compounding the excitement, Rei Ishizuka joins as the music composer at IMAGINE.

About the Series
