Path of Exile 2’s Most Anticipated Summoning Skill Released with Issues

As a dedicated Witch specialist in Path of Exile 2, the newly introduced summoning skill, Bind Spectre, piqued my interest during the recent preview session. This skill has been highlighted as one of the potentially game-changing features for the Witch class, especially as we gear up for the launch of patch 0.2.0. The idea of summoning unique minions from various locations across the game world is certainly thrilling.

However, it appears that the excitement surrounding Bind Spectre may be somewhat premature. Early reports indicated that this skill would not be available at the start of Early Access due to unresolved technical issues. Players who have had the chance to experiment with it have expressed concerns over its limitations.

Current Limitations of Bind Spectre in Path of Exile 2

At present, several frustrating aspects detract from the appeal of the Bind Spectre skill. While the concept is innovative and could potentially enrich gameplay in Path of Exile 2 and other action RPGs, it seems that the execution needs improvement. Drawing comparisons to other titles, the closest experience is perhaps controlling temporary demons or undead in World of Warcraft.

So, what exactly are the issues with the Bind Spectre skill? A major frustration is that once you bind a Spectre (essentially, an enemy minion), you cannot unbind it. Each activation of Bind Spectre requires a fresh gem, which, although the game is generous with gems, can become tedious as players frequently need to swap them.

Moreover, players have reported inconsistencies with some Spectres—specifically, issues with minions either failing to attack or misfiring their abilities away from enemies, rather than directing them correctly. Additionally, the Skill Panel for these Spectres does not display their abilities, complicating the process of selecting appropriate Support Gems.

There have also been instances where enhanced physical abilities, such as those boosted by the Brutality Support Gem, do not deliver the expected damage. While it’s promising that players can level up these Spectres, their current performance leaves much to be desired. It’s an exciting idea at its core, and one can only hope for timely updates and fixes to realize its full potential.
