Daredevil: Born Again Producer Discusses Ms. Marvel’s Return to the MCU

Marvel Studios is stirring excitement among fans as executive producer Sana Amanat hints at a likely return for Ms. Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This follows the notable guest appearance of Kamala Khan’s father, Yusuf Khan, in the intriguing series Daredevil: Born Again. Kamala made her debut in her own Disney+ series during Phase 4, later teaming up with notable characters like Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau in The Marvels. Following these events, Kamala’s storyline shifted towards her aspiration of uniting a team of young Avengers. However, since then, she has not been featured onscreen, although her father played a pivotal role in a recent episode where Matt Murdock intervenes during a bank heist to save him.

As mentioned by TVLine journalist Matt Webb Mitovich, Amanat has expressed a desire to bring back Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan soon. While no official announcements have been made regarding her next appearance, there is speculation that Marvel Studios is actively seeking potential avenues to reintegrate Kamala into the storyline, especially following the conclusion of The Marvels. Amanat stated:

“She is beloved by all of us at Marvel, and we have been talking…. Hopefully there will be plans soon, but it is very, very TBD. Hopefully [The Marvels] will not be the last we see of her.”

The Implications of Sana Amanat’s Comments on Ms. Marvel’s Future

Unlike many characters introduced during Phases 4 and 5 of the MCU, Kamala Khan’s narrative trajectory appears to be intentionally crafted. The conclusion of The Marvels suggests an imminent focus on her efforts to assemble a team of young superheroes for her own Young Avengers initiative. It’s anticipated that when Ms. Marvel makes her next appearance, she’ll likely be presenting alongside a cohort of emerging heroes rather than appearing alone. This indicates that standalone titles might not be in her immediate future, as Ms. Marvel could re-emerge as part of a broader Young Avengers assembly during a significant crossover before the culmination of the Multiverse Saga.

Although the cast announcement for Avengers: Doomsday did not include Iman Vellani’s character or any prospective members of the Young Avengers, it does not preclude the possibility that they may still be introduced prior to filming. There remains a chance for a brief cameo by Ms. Marvel, possibly alongside her new allies. Regardless of the outcome, it is highly probable that Ms. Marvel will play a role in the anticipated Avengers: Secret Wars.
