Bruce Springsteen Unveils Seven “Lost”Albums in Upcoming Box Set
Rock icon Bruce Springsteen has exciting news for fans: he will be releasing a collection of seven previously unreleased albums in an extensive box set this summer. Titled Tracks II: The Lost Albums, this much-anticipated release is scheduled for June 27 via Sony Music.
The collection boasts an impressive 83 tracks, encapsulating recordings made between 1983 and 2018. This initiative comes nearly three decades after the launch of the original Tracks compilation in 1998, which featured demos and previously unreleased songs rather than complete albums.
Springsteen Offers Insight
In a statement regarding the project, Springsteen expressed his enthusiasm about finally sharing this music. “The Lost Albums were full records, some of them even to the point of being mixed and not released,” he revealed. “I’ve played this music to myself and often close friends for years now. I’m glad you’ll get a chance to finally hear them. I hope you enjoy them.”
Exploring the Collection
The first album included in this collection is the 18-track LA Garage Sessions ’83, recorded during the gap between his landmark albums, Nebraska and Born in the U.S.A.. The other six albums are titled Streets of Philadelphia Sessions, Faithless, Somewhere North of Nashville, Inyo, Twilight Hours, and Perfect World. Fans got a sneak peek of the collection with the release of the track “Rain in the River” from the album Perfect World.
This box set is currently available for pre-order now.
Diverse Musical Directions
Springsteen highlighted the creative freedom he experienced during the recording process. “The ability to record at home whenever I wanted allowed me to go into a wide variety of different musical directions,” he stated. Each of the albums showcases different stylistic elements, ranging from the lo-fi sounds of LA Garage Sessions to the country influences in Somewhere North of Nashville, and the orchestral feel of Twilight Hours.
Accompanying Biopic on the Horizon
This announcement arrives alongside news of the upcoming biopic about Springsteen, Deliver Me From Nowhere, being produced by 20th Century Studios, featuring actor Jeremy Allen White in the lead role. Springsteen recently visited the film’s set and expressed his admiration for White’s performance, stating, “Jeremy is such a terrific actor that you just fall right into it,” during a segment on SiriusXM’s E Street Radio.
