Path of Exile 2 Update Temporarily Removes One of Its Most Powerful Buff Skills

The highly anticipated 0.2.0 patch for Path of Exile 2 is set to introduce significant changes, including the removal of a popular Buff Skill. While players expected some adjustments, one particular ability has been deemed too powerful to balance and will be completely removed in this update. As a result, players will find that the gems associated with this skill will also be disabled.

The Fate of Grim Feast in Path of Exile 2’s 0.2.0 Patch

As of the upcoming 0.2.0 patch, Grim Feast is officially being removed from Path of Exile 2. This skill was known for its exceptional performance and remained a favorite among players. In a gesture of goodwill, the Grim Feast gems that players have acquired will remain in their inventories, albeit in a disabled state, making them unusable for the time being. Many, including myself, anticipated a nerf rather than a complete removal of this skill.

Grim Feast was revered for its ability to recover between 10 and 242 Energy Shield by consuming corpses. This gameplay mechanic allowed players to kill enemies and collect small sprites known as Grim Remnants, which had a 50% chance of appearing whenever an enemy died or when a minion was revived in their presence.

The effectiveness of Grim Feast significantly enhanced builds centered around Raging Spirits, making players feel nearly invulnerable. The continuous summoning of minions that quickly perished led to a substantial accumulation of Energy Shield, sometimes doubling the maximum Energy Shield attainable in Path of Exile 2. Many would agree that this power level was astonishing, allowing even less-equipped spellcasters to exhibit more durability than heavily armored warriors.

With Grim Feast’s removal, it appears that the developers have struggled to find a balanced approach to address this overwhelmingly strong Buff Skill. For now, players will have to navigate their routes without using it. Potential adjustments could involve lowering the overflow mechanism or even completely eliminating it. Even a revised version of Grim Feast would remain a formidable asset, potentially giving spellcasters a fighting chance in challenging scenarios. As we await further updates, it will be interesting to see how the developers tackle this issue moving forward.
