Blumhouse Unveils Trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s Sequel
Jason Blum, the head of Blumhouse Productions, embraced his penchant for theatricality by donning an animatronic-inspired costume to unveil the highly anticipated first trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 during CinemaCon.
Excitement Builds at CinemaCon
Taking center stage at CinemaCon, which runs from March 31 to April 3 this year, Blum confidently declared, “The first Five Nights at Freddy’s was Blumhouse’s biggest hit.” He acknowledged a past decision that had some exhibitors unsettled: releasing the original film on Peacock simultaneously with its theatrical debut. However, he reassured attendees that the sequel would have an exclusive theatrical release.

The trailer offers chilling glimpses into the mysteries surrounding the pizzeria where Mike, played by Josh Hutcherson, works. In a suspenseful moment, Elizabeth Lail’s character cryptically notes, “They’re out there, Mike.” When he presses for clarity, she ominously adds, “Everywhere.” To watch the trailer, visit the link below:

Cast and Crew Information
Joining Hutcherson are Piper Rubio and Matthew Lillard in this sequel, directed by Emma Tammi who also directed the 2023 original. The script combines contributions from Tammi, Scott Cawthon, and Seth Cuddeback. Fans can look forward to seeing Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 hit theaters on December 5.
Franchise Success and Future Directions
The inaugural film of the franchise, centered on a security guard discovering the malevolent secrets of a pizzeria, achieved remarkable success, generating $80 million on its opening weekend—setting a record for Blumhouse despite its simultaneous streaming release on Peacock.
During last year’s CinemaCon, Universal announced that a sequel was underway. Tammi hinted at unresolved plot threads that would be explored in the follow-up, saying, “We have some loose ends that I think are going to have to come back in a sequel to be tied up.”
