Sony is Allegedly Distributing Additional Free PS Plus Compensation Packages

Overview of Recent PS Plus Compensation

  • Sony has initiated another round of compensation for PlayStation Plus subscribers following the significant PSN outage in February.
  • Some subscribers have reported receiving only two free days due to delays in notification emails from Sony.

PlayStation Plus subscribers have recently reported receiving additional compensation from Sony as a result of the extensive PlayStation Network outage that occurred back in February. Given the vast number of subscribers, which is in the millions, the process of rolling out these compensatory rewards has been slow, generating numerous complaints from users regarding the handling of the situation.

PlayStation Plus offers its members the ability to access a wide array of games from the regular catalog, the Classics lineup, and the Game Trials feature. In addition, Extra and Premium memberships are available, which provide further benefits such as Ubisoft+ Classics and PS5 Cloud streaming. To appease users affected by the PSN outage, certain titles, like Fallout 76 and Destiny 2, offered in-game perks, yet not all subscribers are pleased with the ongoing compensation efforts.

Delayed Notifications for Compensation

While some PlayStation Plus users have already received compensation for the outage, those falling into the latest wave are encountering an issue where the promised five free days are being reduced. One Reddit user, LesExposNosAmours, shared a screenshot revealing that their compensation email arrived three days after the five-day period began, resulting in only two days of free access. This sentiment was echoed by multiple users in the comments, many of whom experienced similar delays with their notifications. Surprisingly, the initial poster noted they did not have an active PS Plus membership, suggesting the outage’s impact did not affect them directly.

Furthermore, players in India are facing additional frustrations as they miss out on one of the three new games introduced to the catalog in April 2025. While RoboCop: Rogue City, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory were all made available, the latter title could not be redeemed by Indian players. Given the ongoing technical issues affecting PlayStation, Sony faces a considerable challenge ahead in addressing these user concerns.
