Young Reacher Actor Talks About Possible Return as Season 4 Production Starts

Maxwell Jenkins, who portrayed a young Jack Reacher in the acclaimed first season of Reacher, has recently shared his thoughts on a potential return to the show. The series, which has captured a broad audience on Prime Video, is adapted from Lee Child’s novels featuring a former military officer entangled in intricate criminal schemes across the U.S. Although Jenkins appeared in the inaugural season, he has not been part of subsequent story arcs, prompting curiosity about his future involvement.

During an interview with ScreenRant regarding his forthcoming series, The Bondsman, Jenkins expressed a strong desire to be a part of Reacher season 4. He mentioned that, as of now, he hasn’t been approached to reprise his role as the younger version of the iconic character. However, Jenkins fondly recalled his time on set, stating he remains an avid viewer of the series and a fan of Alan Ritchson, the lead actor. His enthusiasm suggests that he would gladly step back into the role if the opportunity arose. Here are Jenkins’ remarks:

I haven’t [had any talks], but Nick [Santora]’s awesome, and I loved my time on that set. I haven’t had talks with them, but the show is great. I continue to watch it, and Alan is so fun to watch. I can’t wait to see what that show has in store. If they need me back, I’ll be there.

Will Reacher Season 4 Feature Flashback Scenes with Jenkins?

What Will The Next Season Adapt?

Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher

While Jenkins is eager to revisit his role as the younger Jack Reacher in the anticipated season, it remains uncertain if his character will play a part in the storyline. Season 1 featured significant flashbacks centered around Reacher’s childhood, showcasing his experiences with his brother Joe. Jenkins effectively captured the fearless spirit of young Reacher, illustrating moments when he confronted bullies, which led to some consequences, including conflict with his father’s superior’s son.

Production for season 4 has been confirmed and is set to commence this summer. Although Reacher faced repercussions for his choices, these flashbacks were essential in shaping his character and the dynamics with his brother. Interestingly, the latter seasons did not delve into Reacher’s childhood. The specific novel that will be adapted in season 4 remains unannounced, indicating that Jenkins’ return would depend on the inclusion of such flashback sequences.

Our Perspective on Jenkins’ Feedback Regarding His Role

A Convincing Performance

Young Jack and Joe walk in Reacher

Given that several Jack Reacher novels, beyond The Killing Floor (the inspiration for season 1), allude to Reacher’s younger years, there is potential for season 4 to include moments from his past. Should this narrative direction be pursued, re-engaging Jenkins would be a fitting choice. Although some flashback moments in the first season had a slightly exaggerated feel, if the storyline of season 4 requires deeper exploration of Reacher’s formative years, bringing Jenkins back would undoubtedly enhance the narrative.
