In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, players embark on a journey to confront Naoe’s turbulent past through various quests, including the Shadows and Light mission. This particular quest involves a challenging retrieval task that centers around locating the Kashiwara Manor.
This guide aims to assist players in pinpointing the exact locations of the three lanterns that need to be collected from Kashiwara Manor. But before diving into the retrieval, let’s first cover how to activate the quest within AC Shadows.
How to Start “Light and Shadows”
To initiate the Light And Shadows quest, players must head to the Iga region and return to Naoe’s residence. There, they will find a letter from Matsu, revealing her intention to find a serene spot in the mountains for her final moments. Tracking her down can be somewhat difficult, but utilizing the League’s Scouts located southeast of the Nabari Wilds will help disclose her whereabouts on the map.
The Igan settlement is situated in the eastern portion of the Iga region. Naoe’s house should already be marked, as players likely encountered it during flashbacks while completing the Before the Fall quest.
Upon arrival, engage in conversation with Matsu. Following a cutscene, she will assign Naoe the task of eliminating a dangerous brigand who has been squatting in her summer cabin. Proceed to the marker to locate a small dwelling where the brigand is menacing an elderly man and a young girl. Eliminate the target and then speak to the old man, named Yoshiharu.
After this encounter, return to Matsu and gather worms from the northern region of Nabari Wilds. Follow the stream until you discover a deer carcass, then head back to Matsu to learn that the girl had been feigning her illness. Engage with Yoshimaru again, without disclosing the truth, and he will instruct players to retrieve three lanterns from Kashiwara Manor.
Finding Kashiwara Manor in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Finding the restricted area of Kashiwara Manor may be complicated. Start from the Hiiyama map marker, follow the river, and look to the left at the fork with the Scouts to uncover the manor’s location.
Upon arrival, you must engage and defeat the enemies present. Be particularly cautious of the Elite enemy wielding a Kannabo, as his powerful attacks and kicks can deliver significant damage to Naoe.
After neutralizing the threats, utilize Naoe’s focus ability to locate the three blue dots that indicate where the Red Lanterns are hidden. The first lantern can be found to the left, situated inside a house. The second is located in the central building of the area, while the third is situated to the right of the entrance, within a small warehouse.
With the three lanterns secured, make your way back to Yoshimaru to deliver them just in time for dinner. When asked about the significance of the lanterns’ light, opt for the response: Home. Successfully completing this quest rewards players with 1000 XP and the Red Lantern Post Hideout Cosmetic.
