Eventually, the two encounter Motoharu, a roving samurai who takes them in as they begin to forge a new life in the village of Kadono. Their lives become intertwined with Motoharu’s daughter, Shirayuki, marking the beginning of their new adventure.

The situation escalates when Shirayuki discloses her impending marriage to Kiyomasa, the future village chief, to secure an heir. Although she harbors feelings for Jinta, societal constraints force her to choose duty over love.

The peace of the village is shattered when demons launch a sudden attack, seriously injuring Jinta during the fight. However, he manages to turn the tide against the demons. Meanwhile, one demon manipulates Suzune, leading her to confront Shirayuki and Kiyomasa in a fit of rage.
