Josh Patten Takes a Jab at Morgan Wallen’s Instagram Post After SNL Performance
Following a notable appearance on Saturday Night Live, writer Josh Patten humorously critiqued country singer Morgan Wallen’s Instagram activity, which came after the artist’s unexpected exit from the show.
Wallen’s Performance Highlights
On Saturday night, Wallen showcased two tracks from his highly anticipated album, I’m the Problem, including the title song and “Just in Case.” Towards the end of the episode, viewers witnessed an interaction between Wallen and guest host Mikey Madison, who recently won the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Anora.
A Memorable Moment
As the closing credits rolled, Madison expressed her gratitude, stating, “I had a wonderful time, thank you all,” as the house band played in the background. After a brief exchange where Wallen hugged Madison and whispered a few words in her ear, he promptly left the stage.
Instagram Antics
Shortly thereafter, Wallen updated his Instagram Stories with a striking image captured on a runway, featuring what appeared to be a private jet, captioned “Get me to God’s country.” This prompted Patten to join in on the fun, posting an image of a Krispy Kreme truck, cleverly using the same caption to draw laughs from his followers.
In response to a media outlet speculating on his stance towards Wallen, Patten playfully replied with an eye-roll emoji, further sharing a screenshot of his Apple Music playlist from 2023, which highlighted several Wallen tracks, indicating he was indeed a listener.
Wallen’s Journey Continues
Despite not addressing the implication of his Instagram post, Wallen’s journey has been a roller coaster. His appearance on SNL was significant as it marked his second time on the show and the first since a controversial incident where he was seen using a racial slur. While he issued an apology for his actions, they did temporarily hinder his career progression—several radio stations removed his songs from rotation, and major awards shows like the American Music Awards opted not to include him, despite nominations. Nevertheless, Wallen remains one of the most recognized names in country music today.
Upcoming Album Release
I’m the Problem is slated for release on May 16.
