Suits LA Episode 6 Review: Exciting Developments and Increased Urgency After a Slow Start

Suits LA Episode 6: Progress at Last

The sixth episode of Suits LA finally addresses lingering plot threads, a step that many viewers felt should have occurred earlier in the series. Up until now, we’ve met Ted Black and his associate Stuart Lane, along with various supporting characters, but the narrative seemed sluggish, often retreading familiar territory without significant development. Thankfully, Episode 6 marks a pivot, injecting much-needed momentum into the storyline.

Plot Developments: The Trial and Tension

The trial revolving around producer Lester Thompson has escalated, particularly after the shocking revelation of his involvement in his partner’s death. In a high-stakes scenario, Ted Black is committed to ensuring Lester’s acquittal, despite the chaotic environment that surrounds the court case. Meanwhile, tension brews as secrets circulate among the supporting cast, contributing to an atmosphere of mistrust and uncertainty.

A Turning Point with Episode 6

Unlike its predecessors, Episode 6 effectively ties up many significant conflicts established earlier, opening avenues for character development in the latter part of the season. Ted Black, who has been depicted as emotionally torn by grief, betrayal, and past demons, finally begins to reveal his true self as the narrative progresses. This shift transforms the show’s dynamic and leaves viewers speculating about what lies ahead.

Execution and Authenticity Issues

Despite the episode’s advancements, the execution felt somewhat awkward. Several conversations lacked authenticity, and the courtroom drama appeared disorganized, suggesting a need for clearer direction in how the plot unfolds. However, there’s an air of optimism for what Episode 7 might bring, as it appears the show is finally shedding some of its previous weight.

Supporting Cast: Struggling for Harmony

As we progress six episodes into the series, the supporting cast stands out, offering quirky and engaging performances, particularly from characters like Rick Dodson and Erica Rollins. Nevertheless, the ensemble has yet to fully sync, revealing a struggle to create cohesive interactions. Presently, some characters seem misplaced within the varying tones of the series, oscillating between comedy and serious drama.

Writing Challenges Persist

One major issue is the writing. While each episode features a compelling primary plot, the dialogue often falls flat, coming off as clumsy or inauthentic. For Suits LA to realize its potential, improvements in writing and character development are crucial. If the creative team can stabilize these elements, there’s a path forward for the series.
