This episode featured Mikey Madison as host, fresh off her recent Academy Award win for her role in Anora. The musical segment was headlined by Morgan Wallen, marking his second appearance on SNL since first debuting in 2020.

Highlights from SNL Season 50, Episode 16

In the cold open, the scene was set around a chaotic group chat. Celebrity hosts Mikey Madison, Ego Nwodim, and Sarah Sherman portrayed teens gossiping about school. The tone shifted dramatically when Andrew Dismukes, embodying Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, interrupted with confidential military information about a raid.

As the teenagers expressed confusion, Bowen Yang, playing Vice President J.D. Vance, added to the chaos with further revelations. The comedic tone escalated when Marcello Hernández, impersonating Secretary Marco Rubio, also joined, initially unaware of the teenagers’ presence.

The cold open concluded with a nod to a real-life faux pas, featuring Mikey Day as the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, who inadvertently entered a sensitive group chat. In her opening monologue, Mikey Madison humorously referenced her dancing skills while acknowledging that she performed her own stunts, including some surprising pole dancing antics.

This was followed by the humorous sketch “Acting Teacher 2,”where Marcello Hernández portrayed a quirky acting coach dishing out unorthodox advice to his students. In another highlight, pop star Joe Jonas took center stage with a performance of the catchy tune “Big Dumb Line.”

The episode continued with the sketch “Jury Duty,”where Ego Nwodim played a judge firmly reminding jurors that their work responsibilities wouldn’t exempt them from duty. Other cast members included Mikey Madison and Emil Wakim reprising his role as Luigi Mangione.

A lively conversation about adulthood and relationships ensued in the “Spring Break”sketch with Chloe Fineman and Marcello Hernández. Following this, Morgan Wallen returned to deliver a performance of “I’m the Problem,” a single from his anticipated album.

During the Weekend Update segment, hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che exchanged witty remarks and punchlines. Another standout segment, titled “Pop’s Big Regret,”featured Andrew Dismukes as a remorseful gangster reflecting on missed life experiences as he faces the end.

In this sketch, James Austin Johnson and Marcello Hernández portrayed his sons in comedic roles. Morgan Wallen made a return for another performance, showcasing his latest single “Just in Case.”The episode wrapped up with additional sketches, including “Barry the Midwife” and a performance from the comedy trio “Please Don’t Destroy,”spotlighting Mikey Madison as Squidward.
