Is There Fast Travel in Atomfall?

In the realm of Role-Playing Games (RPGs), vast landscapes filled with diverse locations are commonplace, often accompanied by fast travel systems designed to streamline exploration. Atomfall, though a more compact title, offers its players expansive areas rich in secrets and diverse locales to discover.

This leads us to an important question: is there a fast travel option in Atomfall that allows players to navigate its various regions more efficiently? The answer is nuanced; while Atomfall does not feature a conventional fast travel system, there are alternative methods to speed up your traversal within its quarantine zone.

Is Fast Travel Possible in Atomfall?

Unfortunately, Atomfall lacks a traditional fast travel mechanic. Unlike popular titles such as Fallout or Skyrim, players cannot simply select a location from a map to teleport there, leading to somewhat tedious backtracking as you make your way back to previously visited spots.

However, the absence of fast travel does not mean you are devoid of methods to reduce your travel time. Atomfall cleverly incorporates shortcuts throughout its world, enabling quicker navigation between regions. When you examine your map, look for an icon resembling a two-way street sign, signifying entrances that link to different areas.

Now, let’s explore where you can discover these shortcuts.

The primary location to find shortcuts is within The Interchange, a key facility essential for progressing the main storyline. Here, players can uncover pathways leading to regions such as Slatten Dale, Wyndham Village, Casterfell Woods, and Skethermoor.

Accessing these shortcuts isn’t as straightforward as strolling into The Interchange and simply following directions. In the early game, many sections of The Interchange may be inaccessible due to power outages. Players must locate Atomic Batteries to energize the facility, unlocking new areas that allow for faster navigation. Be prepared, as some shortcuts are guarded by outlaws, Protocol soldiers, automated turrets, and even imposing B.A.R.D. Robots.

As long as you maintain a neutral stance towards the Protocol soldiers in the town, reaching each region becomes feasible from here.

Another set of shortcuts can be found in the Sewer Tunnels located in Slatten Dale. The sewers have an entry point at coordinates 28.0 E, 79.4 N, and an alternative entrance can be accessed at 24.7 E, 78.2 N—though you’ll need to barter with Molly for the key to access it. Inside the sewers, you will face aggressive druids, but overcoming them will provide exits leading to both Casterfell Woods and Wyndham Village.

If you aim to reach Skethermoor, you can do so via the Slate Mine Caves in Slatten Dale. Two entrances exist: one at the outset of the game, located at 28.9 E, 71.1 N, and the second near the Slatten Dale Radio Tower at 30.0 E, 73.5 N. Within the mines, you will meet a character named Reg Stansfield. Proceed to the left of his position to discover the pathway leading directly to Skethermoor.
