Overview
- The upcoming Call of Duty title for 2025 is projected to launch in early October.
- Black Ops 6 may be limited to just five seasons, which is one season less than previous installments since 2019, excluding Vanguard.
- An official announcement for Call of Duty 2025 is anticipated during the summer months.
According to a Spanish leaker, the next installment of Call of Duty could arrive as early as October 2025. This news hints that the new game may debut before Black Ops 6 even finishes its first year on the market.
Speculation around this year’s Call of Duty release has been rife. Recently, a report from Insider Gaming indicated that Treyarch will spearhead the development of the 2025 title, also revealing that the Zombies mode may feature six round-based maps, set in diverse locations including New York, Japan, and a Dark Aether space station.
On March 28, leaker InfoCoDES shared that the anticipated release date might be early October 2025. Since Black Ops 6 launched on October 25, 2024, this would mean the sequel could arrive just shy of its predecessor’s one-year anniversary. Historically, Activision’s releases have often followed this pattern, with titles like Black Ops 6, Modern Warfare 2, and others frequently hitting shelves within a year of their predecessors. Therefore, whether a new title appears before or after the previous one’s anniversary has often been a toss-up, and in this case, the dice seem to roll in favor of an earlier release.
Shortened Support for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
EXCLUSIVA: Call of Duty 2025 podría lanzarse a principios de Octubre.
Unlike most Call of Duty titles since 2019, which typically offer six seasons of content (with the exception being Vanguard), Black Ops 6 might deviate from this norm and only feature five seasons. However, InfoCoDES cautions against taking this information too seriously, reminding fans that leaks can often be uncertain. Currently, Black Ops 6 is in Season 2 Reloaded, with the third season set to be released on April 2.
Call of Duty: A 20-Year Legacy of October Releases
Historically, all mainline titles in the Call of Duty franchise have launched between October and November, with a notable preference for October releases over the years, maintaining a common ratio of approximately 2.5 to 1. The anticipated 2025 release further supports this timeline, even before the recent leaks confirmed a possible window for launch.
