In The First Berserker: Khazan, five fundamental statistics play a crucial role in shaping Khazan’s capabilities, strengths, and weapon effectiveness. Figuring out which stats to prioritize for upgrades can be a daunting task, especially since resetting them requires using a scarce and relatively expensive item. Each stat does not only enhance Khazan’s weapon functionalities but also bolsters his resistance to various in-game status effects, including flame, poison, chaos, and more.
Prior to your first showdown with the boss, Yetuga, in The First Berserker: Khazan, players will unlock access to all three weapon categories. At this stage, the decisions regarding stat investment will become increasingly significant. Each weapon type aligns with different stats, and this principle applies universally across specific weapon categories. It’s essential to understand that the stats have both offensive and defensive implications; offensive capabilities are linked to weapon scaling, whereas defensive aspects are tied to attributes and resistances.

The Value of Vitality & Endurance

You can upgrade stats at any Nexus Point, provided you have accumulated the necessary Lacrima. If you’re uncertain about your weapon preference, don’t worry; Vitality and Endurance are exceptional all-purpose stats that offer essential benefits without directly influencing weapon scaling. These stats enhance overall performance, especially in challenging encounters.
As you gear up for your encounter against the Blade Phantom boss, investing in Vitality is particularly advantageous. This stat not only significantly boosts your maximum health but also increases overall attack damage and all forms of resistance. Endurance is equally important since it enhances your stamina management, allowing for smoother gameplay during intense battles.

Strength, Willpower & Proficiency: The Weapon Buffs

As noted earlier, while Vitality and Endurance offer broad advantages, they do not contribute directly to weapon scaling. Vitality stands out as the primary health booster and significantly increases your maximum health compared to other stats.
On the other hand, Endurance uniquely enhances your stamina capabilities, making it indispensable. Continuously investing in both Vitality and Endurance should be your primary focus as they form the backbone of survival in challenging encounters.
Stat | Basic Effects | Weapon Scaling |
---|---|---|
Vitality |
Increases Max Health (+), Attack DMG, Weight, and All Resistances |
None |
Endurance |
Boosts Max Health, Attack DMG, Max Stamina, and Stamina Recovery |
None |
Strength |
Max Health, Attack DMG (+), Weight, and Reduces Stamina DMG Taken |
Dual Wield, Greatsword |
Willpower |
Max Health, Attack DMG, Stamina Recovery, and Decreased Guard Stamina DMG |
Dual Wield, Spear |
Proficiency |
Max Health, Attack DMG, Increased Stamina Damage, and Reduced Dodge Stamina Cost |
Greatsword, Spear |
For players favoring Dual Wield and Greatsword builds, investing in Strength is crucial, as it not only enhances damage but also mitigates stamina damage taken from foes. Willpower plays an equally important role in Dual Wield and Spear configurations, helping to reduce stamina loss when guarding. Finally, both the Greatsword and Spear benefit from Proficiency, which minimizes the stamina costs associated with dodging.
Your choice of weapon stats will ultimately hinge on your preferred playstyle. Personally, I gravitated towards the Spear, prioritizing Endurance and Proficiency to enhance my dodging abilities early on. Sticking primarily with the Spear facilitated my focus on Willpower and Proficiency alongside Endurance for added stamina. However, both Dual Wield and Greatsword options remained viable throughout my journey, thanks to the interconnectivity of the weapon scaling stats within The First Berserker: Khazan.
