The artwork for the stamp was created by Dale Stephanos, an illustration professor at Suffolk University. During the unveiling, he shared his emotional connection to Betty White while designing the stamp, likening it to creating a portrait of a beloved family member:
“When I was working on the stamp surrounding myself with Betty White videos and pictures, I felt like I was working on a portrait of a family member. I wanted Betty’s huge personality to take center stage,”
Stephanos also chose purple for the background, symbolizing “protest,” highlighting White’s vigorous advocacy for animal rights and welfare. He reflected on her remarkable demeanor during activism:
“She had such a positive personality. She never seemed angry, even though protest is a form of anger… She’s one of those people who could get away with things that a lot of people couldn’t because she was an older lady, and she had that sweet smile, and its delivery — it was never mean.”

The Forever stamp features a stunning photograph of Betty White captured by Kwaku Alston in 2010, which also graced the cover of People Magazine’s January 2022 issue, honoring her after her passing. Collectors and fans can purchase the stamp in sheets of 20 for a total of $14.60.
