These messages, sent between February 2012 and January 2013, included flirtatious and sexual undertones and involved a fan identified as Melyssa, who was reportedly just 16 at the time, while James was 35.
The alleged exchanges show Melyssa expressing her desire to go out with the comedian once she turned 18. James’s response was listed as follows:
“Haha, you’re awesome… Once you turn 18, email me the same question and I’ll be happy to answer.”
When jokingly asked if he planned to remain single until her birthday, Murr replied, “I’ll do my best, promise.” The conversation reportedly turned to discussions about personal items and even declarations of affection.
Following the dissemination of these Facebook screenshots, the young fan elaborated on her experiences in a detailed Reddit post. She acknowledged her discomfort in sharing specifics, stating:
“I’ve only shared what I feel comfortable with at the moment. Censored for obvious reasons. I was 16/17 when I first reached out to say I was a fan, that’s when he offered meet and greet tickets.”
The Reddit user recounted having met Murray in both London and New York City, alleging that on one occasion, he kissed her and she had little recollection of the events that followed.
Details of the Allegations Against James Murray
The allegations suggest that James “Murr” Murray engaged in sending inappropriate unfiltered messages via social media over a decade ago to a minor. This claim was prominently highlighted in a Reddit thread titled “Murr – screenshots and pictures,” although it has since been removed.
Within the alleged messages, Melyssa noted her hesitance to appear “creepy” and reached out to another Impractical Jokers cast member, Sal Vulcano, to relay her feelings to James. In a humorous reply, Sal appeared to allude to his own relationship with Murray:
“Hahaa, and oh Jesus. With all that talk about d*ldos, I’m a bit scared… Hahahaaa… OhMyGod, please tell me they’re not right or close…”
James’s response reportedly included, “I will not say until we meet in person!!” which Melyssa described as “unfair.” The conversations included further exchanges where Murr commented on her appearance and expressed gratitude for a video she sent, labeling her as “cute.”
Additionally, she recounted a moment of disappointment at missing one of his shows due to sold-out tickets, but Murray reportedly offered her tickets for another show. The corresponding emails were shared as evidence.
Furthermore, Melyssa alleged that Murray insisted on a morning meeting and commented on occasions when he seemed inebriated and suggested she come over to his apartment.
The Reddit user also posted images showing her with Murray, ensuring her identity was concealed.
She described attending one of Murray’s shows with “all access” passes, where she and a friend allegedly had dinner with him and were provided alcohol, despite being minors:
“We met up again a few times when he came to London. I would go to the parties and stay in his hotel. I haven’t uploaded the videos in his hotel room as my friend is indecent. His management and team were there. He bought me lots of nice things, gave me money for private taxis, and things no adult would have been needing money for,” she claimed.
Continuing her account, she recounted a time in New York City when Murray allegedly urged her to meet him late at night. She recalled attending his apartment the following evening, with some pictures from that interaction shared as well. Her sentiments were reflective:
“This all happened between the ages of 16-18. Please remember I was young, I thought this celebrity liked me and that it was the coolest thing ever at the time. I acknowledge my part in this, but people need to be aware so something worse doesn’t happen…”
Melyssa urged caution among other women and expressed concern for the younger demographics she witnessed at parties, alleging instances where minors were engaged in risky behavior.
Murray has not publicly responded to these serious allegations. According to screenshots shared by @Pretend_Crab_9160, James previously requested her not to disclose their private conversations when discussing her approaching age milestone in 2012.
She admitted to having acted “older”during this period, providing context to their interactions and recognizing that it was an “unspoken fact”about her age.
The timing of these allegations coincides with further allegations against Joe Gatto, which recently gained traction following a TikTok post by user @joozyb on March 21, 2025. The individual claimed her encounter with Gatto took place during a show in Milwaukee in September 2023 when she was 19 years old.
On March 23, another former employee of Gatto corroborated these claims during an exclusive interview, leading to Gatto denying the allegations, canceling his ongoing tour, and entering an inpatient facility for support.
