Pierce Brosnan Praises His ‘MobLand’ Co-Star Helen Mirren as a ‘Powerhouse’ at Global Premiere

Pierce Brosnan Celebrates Helen Mirren at MobLand Premiere

At the premiere of Guy Ritchie’s highly anticipated series MobLand in London, Pierce Brosnan expressed admiration for his co-star, Helen Mirren. As the two reunited on the white carpet of Leicester Square, Brosnan reflected on their long-standing connection that began with their first collaboration in the classic film The Long Good Friday in 1980.

A Nostalgic Reunion

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Brosnan shared his enthusiasm about working alongside Mirren again. “We enjoy each other’s company a lot. I’m a great admirer of Helen’s work,” he stated. “She’s a powerhouse of a woman and actress, brimming with heart and soul.” Brosnan’s deep respect for Mirren is rooted in years of admiration, which he described as inspired by their past experiences. “My first movie was with her, albeit not in a direct capacity,” he added, reminiscing about their early days in cinema.

Standing Out in a Crowded Market

As the conversation shifted to the new series, Brosnan elaborated on its potential in an oversaturated television landscape. “I think it brings a lot, actually,”he noted, referring to the show’s compelling narrative. He further credited Ronan Bennett for his role in developing the project alongside Guy Ritchie, stating, “When they sent me the five episodes, I immediately said ‘yes.’ Then I turned to Helen while we were shooting The Thursday Murder Club and asked, ‘Are you going to do it?'”

Mirren’s enthusiastic response came after she read the script, expressing her excitement, “I love it. I’m in!”With the addition of Tom Hardy, Brosnan remarked, “And we’re off to the races.”

Star-Studded Premiere

The premiere event not only featured Brosnan and Mirren, but also Tom Hardy and other notable cast members, including Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, and Jasmine Jobson. Director and executive producer Anthony Byrne shared his excitement about the unique cast mix, highlighting how their combined talents are bound to captivate audiences. “I haven’t worked with a cast like this in one show… That alone is a reason to make it stand out,” he noted.

Reflecting on the on-set dynamics, Byrne stated, “The vibe was always really good. I enjoyed working with Tom again and diving deeply into the characters’ arcs instead of limiting him to a cameo.” He concluded by sharing that it was refreshing to collaborate with stars of Brosnan’s and Mirren’s caliber without feeling intimidated.
