What Unfolded in Episode 4 of The Amazing Race Season 37?
The latest episode kicked off with Scott and Lori departing first for Bali. A critical detail revealed that the team securing the Driver’s Seat advantage would have a significant edge during this leg of the race. Seizing the opportunity, Scott and Lori visited a travel agency to secure their tickets. Soon, another duo, Carson and Jack, joined them to book the same flight. Meanwhile, Jonathan and Ana, who had clinched the Express Pass, strategized on how best to use their advantage effectively.
While booking their travel, Carson and Jack collaborated with Scott and Lori to discuss tactics. They agreed that targeting a weaker team would maximize their advantage rather than competing against a stronger one. Following suit, Melinda and Erika pursued the same flight, along with Pops and Jeff, who also made their travel arrangements at the agency.
In the end, all teams managed to board the 7:15 flight except for Bernie and Carrigain, who would have to take a later flight at 10:55, placing them at a distinct disadvantage. Upon arriving in Bali, the teams hopped into taxis heading for their next adventure, securing spots for the upcoming morning task. Jonathan and Ana led the pack, followed closely by Nick and Mike, Scott and Lori, and the other teams.
The next day on The Amazing Race, teams faced a new challenge: driving ATVs through the lush jungles of Bali to locate a stunning waterfall. They completed this task in the order they had chosen. Jonathan and Ana not only finished this task first but were also rewarded with their next clue, directing them to Tampaksiring. Ana stepped up to participate in the exciting Roadblock, which involved threshing rice—an amount determined by the coveted Driver’s Seat advantage.
Taking full advantage of their position, Jonathan and Ana determined the rice allocation for the other teams, assigning 25 pounds to Alyssa and Josiah, Nick and Mike, Bernie and Carrigain, Pops and Jeff, and Scott and Lori—while other teams only received 20 or 15 pounds. However, Jonathan and Ana decided to use their Express Pass to skip the rice threshing task entirely.
As more teams arrived at the Roadblock, Lori and Nick began threshing rice, while Brett and Mark’s taxi driver took a wrong turn, leading to navigation woes. Realizing the blunder through GPS, they quickly gathered their bearings. Meanwhile, Jonathan and Ana were left questioning if their use of the Express Pass was a miscalculation. Shortly after, Melinda and Erika arrived, with Melinda jumping right into the Roadblock task.
After successfully completing their obstacle, Lori and Scott swiftly departed for Penglipuran Village, followed by Bernie and Carrigain, with Carrigain taking on the Roadblock challenge. Jonathan and Ana reached the Detour next, opting for the task of Penjor, which involved decorating a bamboo pole, a choice that made them anxious about falling behind as Scott and Lori were right on their heels.
The first to complete the Roadblock were Nick and Han, followed closely by Alyssa and Jack. Meanwhile, Han & Holden and Nick & Mike chose the Pajegan Detour, while Alyssa & Josiah and Carson & Jack went for Penjor. Melinda, Jeff, and Mark each finished the Roadblock as well.
Ultimately, Carrigain found herself struggling to complete the task, which sealed her and Bernie’s fate as they were the last team to arrive, leading to their elimination from The Amazing Race.
