The Takeda Castle Samurai Daishos represent some of the most formidable elite adversaries you will encounter in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. These warriors safeguard one of the game’s elusive Legendary Chests, located in the remote western area of the Tamba region. To access this treasure, you must defeat a total of five Samurai Daishos.
This guide will navigate you through the locations of the Takeda Castle Samurai Daishos, offering strategies for taking them down stealthily and detailing what you can expect to find in the Legendary Chest.
Locations of the Takeda Castle Samurai Daishos in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

1. Lower Central Courtyard – First Samurai Daisho
To locate the first Samurai Daisho, stealthily navigate along the southeastern edge of the castle. He can be found in the lower central courtyard, surrounded by guards. Begin by eliminating the lookout on the wall and the watchman watching the area below. When the patrolling guard moves away, quickly assassinate the Daisho, and then clear the remaining guard to ensure the area is safe.
2. Northern Central Courtyard – Second Samurai Daisho
The second Daisho is positioned in the northern central courtyard, accompanied by a nearby guard. Utilize a Shinobi Bell to distract the guard, then take him out quietly, allowing you to close in on the Daisho for an undetected elimination.
3. Secluded Northeast Courtyard – Third Samurai Daisho
This Daisho presents the easiest challenge in the castle, as he is isolated in the northeast courtyard. Approach him quietly to execute a swift and silent assassination.
4. Northern Eastern Section – Fourth Samurai Daisho
In the far eastern area of the northern section, you will find the fourth Daisho seated on the ground with a guard standing nearby and another on patrol. The optimal tactic is to perform an air assassination from the rooftop. After dispatching the Daisho, eliminate the still guard and the patrolling enemy to secure the zone.
5. Northeastern Courtyard – Fifth Samurai Daisho
For the final Samurai Daisho, head to the far northeastern area near a locked shed. This location is patrolled by three guards. A strategic approach involves using the explosive pots in the vicinity; wait for the guards to cluster together and throw a Kunai at the pots to trigger a powerful explosion. After the chaos, eliminate the Daisho to accomplish your objective.
Unlocking the Legendary Chest in Takeda Castle

Once you have successfully eliminated all five Takeda Castle Samurai Daishos in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, proceed to the Tenshu, the large tower found in the northern courtyard. On the fourth floor, you will discover the Legendary Chest; however, be cautious as you will first need to deal with several Samurai guards stationed within the tower.
Location of the Takeda Castle Key
To access additional loot, you’ll need to find a key located in the northeastern courtyard, specifically inside a small house where an enemy is on guard. Take him out and collect the key for further treasures.
