j-hope’s Candid Revelations on Military Life During Fairy Jaehyung Interview
On March 23, 2025, j-hope of BTS made a notable appearance on the YouTube talk show Fairy Jaehyung, sharing his firsthand experiences regarding mandatory military service. Among the humorous insights he offered, his description of the first communal shower with fellow recruits caught significant attention.
In conversation with host Jung Jae-hyung, j-hope discussed the adjustments he faced while transitioning into military routines. He amusingly relayed the moment he realized he would have to share shower facilities, contrasting it with the privacy he enjoyed as a global superstar. This new reality presented a unique challenge for him.
“We all do it the same way, and for me, that was the most embarrassing. As soon as I entered, I immediately thought, ‘How am I supposed to shower here?’ That thought struck me right away! and I just decided to be bold about it. I said, ‘Oh, you’re all going to get a look at a celebrity’s body today, huh?'”
Throughout the show, the BTS rapper emphasized his decision to remain composed and not reveal any uneasiness to his fellow recruits. To lighten the mood, he resorted to humor, showcasing his ability to cope with potentially awkward situations.
“So that’s why I ended up completely exposed. To avoid feeling embarrassed. I didn’t worry about it at all, I just decided I should be confident instead. Thinking, ‘I have to carry myself confidently.’ Saying, ‘This is a celebrity’s body.’ It’s been a while since I’ve referred to myself as a celebrity. I don’t usually use that.”
The BTS ARMY quickly engaged online, celebrating j-hope’s relatable and down-to-earth demeanor. Fans took to social media to share their thoughts, with one particular fan commenting that this interview would be remembered as “one of the best in history.”
“This talk show is going down in history as one of the best ones BTS has done so far. I loved the free flow of conversation, covering all aspects of Hobi & BTS’s career. Thank you Jaehyun nim for your advice. Hope to see you host BTS too once they are back.”
As the conversation continued, viewers found joy in j-hope’s lighthearted recollection of the shower incident.
“So how did Hobi manage to take a shower with others in the military? To avoid embarrassment, he said, ‘hey, you’re all gonna get a look at a celeb’s body, huh?’ and boldly took off all of his clothes!”
This blend of vulnerability and humor caused fans to express their admiration for j-hope’s candidness.
“He’s so funny,”
“After all he said before ‘Naked vibe is best vibe.’ ToT”
Many fans also lauded the show’s host for conducting a respectful and engaging interview, with several viewers expressing their appreciation for the depth of questions regarding j-hope’s music and philosophies.
“I genuinely enjoyed this talk show so much! What a great & entertaining host who knows how to hold the interview while making it comfortable n lighthearted as well. Your dishes look delish as well, Thank You for this.”
“This filled the vacuum I’ve felt since the last Suchwita episode. Thank you for creating an atmosphere that allowed J-hope to speak in a comfortable and unguarded manner. It was a conversation; I wish more interviews were like this.”
“One thing I get from this show is how open-minded Hobi is as a person. He welcomed challenges, unfamiliarity with a hopeful eagerness to learn. His mindset of ‘this is a valuable experience’ is so inspirational, it allows him to stay humble and do his best in every situation.”
