HasanAbi Faces Allegations for Utilizing AI Art in Merchandise

Controversy Surrounds Twitch Streamer HasanAbi Over Alleged AI-Generated Merchandise

Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker, a prominent figure among political streamers on Twitch, is currently engulfed in controversy as accusations arise regarding the authenticity of his merchandise. Critics are alleging that some of his item designs may have been generated using artificial intelligence (AI). These claims originated in the r/h3h3productions subreddit, a community linked to Ethan Klein, co-host of the H3 Podcast, where tensions between the two have long been evident.

Doubts Raised Over Merchandise Artwork

A particular post within the subreddit drew attention to the graphic on Hasan’s “Personal Reality”T-shirt, which features a devilish creature overseeing a skeleton seated at a computer. Observers highlighted several peculiarities within the design, notably pointing out that the skeleton possesses six fingers:

“Does Hasan pay artists to produce this original t-shirt design? This looks like AI. The skeleton has six fingers and no sternum.”

Further analysis by Reddit users uncovered additional inconsistencies, particularly with the demon character’s horns. One user commented:

“It definitely looks like AI. The demon’s horns make no sense and is there a tongue that turns into a mermaid tail coming out the side of his face? Also, the cord coming out of the side of the computer…”

Another comment in the same thread critiqued the odd illustration of the computer monitor and asserted that Hasan may be opting for AI-generated designs as a cost-saving measure:

“The placement of the keyboard is also off. Not to mention that wild monitor. I haven’t seen every old monitor, but that looks wrong.”

History of AI Accusations Against HasanAbi

This is not the first instance in which HasanAbi has faced allegations surrounding the use of AI technologies for his merchandise. While he has neither confirmed nor denied these claims, earlier accusations have been levied against him as well.

In November 2024, Twitter user Gemzar (@mrGemzar) posted images showcasing designs from one of Hasan’s merchandise lines that boasted oddly wobbly lines, creating a strong impression that AI might be involved. Questions reinforced by the background structure appearing to merge inappropriately with foreground elements contributed to growing skepticism:

“Me trying to prove Hasan’s new merch is AI made.”

In addition to these merchandise-related criticisms, HasanAbi has made headlines today (March 26, 2025) for a differing controversy. This time, tech mogul Elon Musk labeled him a “fraud” and a “sellout” after Hasan opted to host a sponsored stream promoting Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

The scrutiny surrounding HasanAbi serves as a timely reminder of the ongoing debates surrounding authenticity and creativity in the age of AI. As the streaming community grapples with these issues, only time will tell how they will impact the industry.
