Ultimate Coda Tysis Build Guide for Warframe

Fans of Warframe are in for a treat with the latest Techrot Encore update, introducing an upgraded variant of the Infested dart gun, the Tysis. This new version, known as the Coda Tysis, is part of the Coda weapon series and can be acquired by defeating the freshly introduced Infested foes, the Technocyte Coda.

Similar to the Kuva Lich from the Grineer faction and the Sisters of Parvos from the Corpus, these adversaries serve as personalized bosses. What sets Technocyte Codas apart is their unique ability to fight in pairs, also bringing along a horde of Infested minions to challenge players.

For players looking to unleash chaos by firing a dart gun and launching enemy corpses across battlefields, the Coda Tysis can be acquired from Eleanor’s selection of Coda weapons. Keep in mind that these offerings rotate following each weekly reset, along with the innate Valence element.

Eleanor does require a form of payment for these Coda weapons, specifically through the use of Live Heartcells. Players can obtain these resources by defeating their active Technocyte Coda duets, which will then be sent to their inbox after completing the assassination mission. Note that having an active Kuva Lich or Sister of Parvos will prevent you from farming a Technocyte Coda duet.

Why Choose Coda Tysis Over Regular Tysis?

Having established how to obtain the Coda Tysis, it’s essential to understand its advantages. On paper, the Coda Tysis presents marginal improvements over the standard Tysis. Initially released in 2014, the Tysis suffered from low Critical Chance and Critical Damage statistics. However, it did feature a robust base 50% Status Chance, making it a formidable weapon for status effects.

The Coda Tysis not only retains the significant Status Chance but also enhances its previously lacking Critical Chance and Hit stats, while slightly increasing both the base damage and magazine capacity. Here’s a breakdown of the comparisons:

  • Base damage per projectile: 76.00 vs. 49.00 (excluding Progenitor bonus)
  • Impact damage: 18 vs. 9
  • Puncture damage: 32 vs. 23
  • Slash damage: 26 vs. 17
  • Total damage: 121.6 vs. 49 (using max +60% Progenitor bonus)
  • Base critical chance: 13.00% vs. 3.00%
  • Base critical multiplier: 2.00x vs. 1.50x
  • Average damage per tap: 137.40 vs. 49.73 (using max +60% Progenitor bonus)
  • Burst DPS: 343.52 vs. 124.33 (using max +60% Progenitor bonus)
  • Sustained DPS: 294.44 vs. 97.69 (using max +60% Progenitor bonus)
  • Magazine size: 18 vs. 11
  • Mastery Rank required: 17 vs. 9

In its current state, the Coda Tysis serves as an effective Status Chance-based weapon for newcomers tackling Adversary missions. It has the potential to generate a flurry of elemental reactions. However, in the broader Warframe meta, it may lack the versatility and potency needed to remain competitive. Many players might see the Coda Tysis as a stepping stone rather than a primary weapon unless a unique mechanic emerges that allows it to dominate in combat.
