“Who’s Paying $2 for a Banana?” — Social Media Reacts as Walmart Embraces the Ashton Hall Trend with Saratoga Water, Bananas, and Ice in Shopping Carts

In a surprising move, Walmart has decided to capitalize on the recent viral sensation initiated by influencer Ashton Hall, renowned for his enthusiastic morning routines. This unexpected collaboration features unconventional grocery cart combinations that have caught the attention of consumers.

On March 24, 2025, Walmart showcased a screenshot on its X account featuring a grocery cart filled with bananas, ice, and water—mirroring a combination highlighted in one of Hall’s latest morning routine videos. This lighthearted engagement quickly gained momentum, sparking a flurry of responses from users on the platform.

Among the reactions was a notable comment that questioned the high price of bananas:

“Who’s paying $2/banana??”

Many users echoed this surprise by commenting on the cart’s overall pricing, raising concerns about the cost of basic items in the United States. As one user quipped,

“Are these the actual prices of things in the USA? So expensive, wtf 🤣 Socialist France is cheaper than expensive USA,”a user on X remarked.

Another user noted the seemingly exorbitant cost of bananas, stating,

“It’s amazing how 8 small bananas can cost ~$3.20. Oh, nevermind. The shopper just can’t work the damn scale more often than not,”another user commented.

Comments continued to highlight the staggering prices, with one user exclaiming,

“$27 dollars for a bunch of bananas? jfc the USA is more cooked than the UK,”a netizen remarked.

Additionally, some users expressed frustration over the growing trend, suggesting it had become overly excessive:

“This is getting out of hand; we need to put a stop to it. 🛑”said a commenter.

While others still expressed disbelief, reflecting on the perceived reputation of Walmart as a budget-friendly retailer:

“I thought Walmart was supposed to be the budget option,”noted another user.

A humorous take from another netizen was,

“Better scarf down all 12 bunches of those bananas before leaving the store,”they quipped.

To date, Walmart has not issued any formal response to these online comments.

Walmart’s post on March 24 also highlighted a grocery cart featuring a six-pack of Saratoga water priced at $71.76, a bunch of organic bananas at $27.12, and a small 10-pound bag of ice available for $22.56. This promotional content subtly alluded to Ashton Hall’s morning routine.

In a video posted on March 20, 2025, Hall demonstrated his routine using Saratoga water for an ice facial. He also showcased a banana, using its peel for skincare, which may have inadvertently spotlighted the brand during his demonstration. Walmart seized the opportunity to caption the post:

“Rise and grind.”

Ashton Hall, a prominent entrepreneur and fitness influencer, was seen prominently featuring a Saratoga water bottle throughout his video, adding an unconscious endorsement of the brand.

Saratoga Water, a premium bottled spring water sourced from natural springs in Saratoga Springs, New York, has been celebrated for its crisp taste and rich mineral content for over 150 years.

As of now, Ashton Hall has yet to publicly comment on Walmart’s promotional post.
