Rocket League has announced the discontinuation of Esports Tokens. Previously, these tokens served as exclusive in-game currency for purchasing items within the dedicated Esports Shop. Unlike the widely used Credits, Esports Tokens were restricted to this specific shopping experience. With significant updates on the horizon for the Esports Shop, the game developers shared insights in a recent blog about the future of esports-themed purchases.
The Transition Away from Esports Tokens
As of April 22, 2025, Esports Tokens will no longer be available, marking a shift towards a more cohesive in-game currency system. Players will now conduct all transactions in the Esports Shop using Credits, simplifying the purchasing process. This move aims to enhance consistency and convenience for all players, leading to the complete removal of the Esports Token option.
For gamers with remaining Esports Tokens, there is a silver lining. These tokens will be converted into Credits upon the currency’s removal, with players receiving a bonus of 10% on their converted credits—this amount will be rounded up to the nearest 50. For example, in the United States, the exchange rate will peg 1 Esports Token at roughly 0.99 Credits.
New Features Coming to the RLCS Shop
On the same date—the anticipated April 22, 2025—the Esports Shop will be rebranded as the RLCS Shop. This upcoming shop will introduce a variety of new features, including universal Decals inspired by RLCS teams, available for any car body except for certain licensed models. Furthermore, players can look forward to exciting new Takeover Goal Explosions showcasing RLCS teams, also purchasable exclusively with Credits.
Previous Bundles of Esports Tokens
Prior to their removal, players could purchase Esports Tokens in the following bundles:
- 100 Tokens – $0.99
- 600 Tokens – $4.99
- 1200 Tokens – $9.99
- 2500 Tokens – $19.99
