On March 20, 2025, News 18 reported groundbreaking findings from a recent investigation into the Pyramids of Giza, utilizing cutting-edge radar technology. This comprehensive study uncovered the existence of an elaborate underground structure beneath these ancient monuments.
Conducted by experts Filippo Biondi and Corrado Malanga from the University of Strathclyde and the University of Pisa, this research employed Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) tomography to reveal new layers of history hidden below the surface.
Public Reactions to the Discovery
The unveiling of this underground structure quickly sparked a flurry of social media activity. Users began drawing comparisons between a widely circulated AI-generated image—previously highlighting an underground feature beneath the pyramids—and the findings reported in the SAR study.
One commenter on X expressed excitement, stating:
“Yeah it’s been real the whole time bro.”
Another user elaborated on the AI image, saying:
“The image is an AI rendition of what was recently discovered underneath the Pyramids of Giza using sound wave topography of some sort. It doesn’t quite look like this, but yes, there are multiple chambers beneath the Khafre Pyramid, all similar to the King’s Chamber,”they commented.
“This image is a reminder that the past holds so many incredible secrets we are still discovering!”another user mentioned.
“Seems that way. I did not have that on my bingo card,”added a different user.
Additionally, various theories and speculations emerged, suggesting a deeper intrigue surrounding the pyramid structure. For instance:
“The pyramids were built by giants btw so it makes sense,”an X user tweeted.
“I actually have this theory… the pyramids are power plants, used to harness energy infinitely through the atmosphere. Tesla was working on something similar before he died,”another netizen commented.
“I’ve been saying since I was about 15 that they are the tops of monoliths or pillars,”another user stated.
Insights from the SAR Study
The SAR investigation centered around the Khafre Pyramid, the second largest of Giza’s three ancient structures. Remarkably, researchers discovered a subterranean system that extends approximately 2 kilometers beneath all three pyramids.
According to a report from the Tribune dated March 21, 2025, the findings were officially announced in a press release and a scientific article on March 15, 2025. The study revealed the presence of five interconnected multi-level structures, along with geometric pathways located near the base of the Khafre Pyramid.
The intricate underground system also features eight vertical cylindrical wells, which descend 648 meters below ground level, ultimately merging into two cube-shaped chambers each measuring 80 meters per side.
In conjunction with the recent SAR study, a separate survey conducted in Giza between 2021 and 2023 identified a 6.5-foot deep L-shaped structure, and speculations about a chamber located 10 to 33 feet beneath the pyramids have also been raised.
