YouTuber Wildcat Defends Assassins Creed Shadows Video Against Critics: “The Controversy is from Fragile People”

Controversy Surrounds Assassin’s Creed Shadows Ahead of Release

Scheduled for launch on March 20, 2025, “Assassin’s Creed Shadows”is already creating a buzz in the gaming community. In the lead-up to the release, select content creators, including popular YouTuber Tyler “Wildcat”Wine, are getting early access to the game. After sharing his gameplay insights, Wildcat faced considerable criticism, prompting him to respond on social media platform X.

Wildcat’s Reaction to the Backlash

In his post, Wildcat expressed frustration over what he perceived as undue hostility in his video comments, stating that the negative responses were unwarranted. He conveyed his thoughts directly on X:

“The comments on my AC Shadows video today are embarrassing LMAO. I’ve never seen a more fragile group of f**king babies.”

The Right to Critique

In light of Wildcat’s comments, user @Lzr1212 emphasized the viewers’ right to express their opinions on a public platform, especially amid the controversies surrounding “Assassin’s Creed Shadows.”This user remarked:

“You play a game that has a lot of controversy around it, you posted it to a public platform that allows people to comment and you’re annoyed by the comments?”

Wildcat Stands Firm

Wildcat responded defiantly, reinforcing his stance that the controversy primarily stems from what he perceives as unreasonable reactions from viewers:

“The controversy is from braindead fragile people is my point. If you play 10 minutes of the game the characters are explained and make sense. The game clearly has a lot of effort put into it as well. People are just braindead.”

Cultural Sensitivities and Backlash

Notably, “Assassin’s Creed Shadows”has encountered criticism for potential cultural insensitivity. Concerns have been raised regarding the depiction of vandalism at sacred Shinto shrines, which has drawn ire from Japanese officials. Additionally, the portrayal of Yasuke, a historical Black samurai, has ignited discussions about authenticity and representation in the game.

Wildcat’s Integrity in Sponsorships

In a broader conversation about commercial interests in gaming content, user @WILDYPwrz criticized YouTubers for allegedly prioritizing profits over genuine engagement, stating:

“I feel like a good portion of what YouTube gaming has become is larger creators getting good chunks of money to play a game one time then never play it again. To me, it just feels disingenuous.”

In response, Wildcat clarified his commitment to authenticity. He reassured his audience that he rigorously evaluates games before endorsing them and is willing to cancel any sponsorship if he deems a title unsatisfactory:

“I’ve been getting paid to play games for over a decade. I do owe a duty to my fans to not promote dogsh*t and I try my best not to. This AC game is solid and people are just crying about the characters or making assumptions. I will cancel a deal if I play the game and think it’s terrible.”

Official Critique from Japan

On a separate note, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has openly criticized Ubisoft for its handling of cultural elements in “Shadows,”describing its portrayal of an actual Shinto shrine as disrespectful.
