Jennie’s Debut Album ‘Ruby’ Achieves Major Milestone in First Week

Global pop powerhouse Jennie has made waves in the music industry with the announcement from Columbia Records that her debut album, Ruby, has surpassed one million copies sold within its initial week.

Ruby, a 15-track album, was released on March 7 through a collaboration with Jennie’s own label, Oddatelier, alongside Columbia Records. It made an impressive debut, landing at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 chart and entering the top 10 in 19 different countries. Notably, the album reached No. 2 positions in both Australia and Korea, and claimed No. 3 in the UK. Prior to the album’s release, Columbia Records reported remarkable pre-order numbers, exceeding 450,000.

This album represents Jennie’s most comprehensive work to date, showcasing her artistry through collaborations with notable artists such as Childish Gambino, Doechii, Dominic Fike, Dua Lipa, and Kali Uchis. Known for her prominent role in the K-Pop sensation Blackpink, Jennie distinguished herself as the first member of the group to launch a solo career with her hit single “Solo” back in 2018.

The album’s promotional journey was initiated by the vibrant single “Like JENNIE,” which blends club music with hip-hop, captivating audiences during her recent performances, particularly in Los Angeles. Leading up to the release of Ruby, Jennie teased fans with three singles, each revealing a distinct facet of her musicality. These included “Mantra” and “You and Me,” a dynamic pop piece released in October 2024, followed by “Love Hangover” featuring Dominic Fike in January 2025, and “ExtraL” with Grammy-winning rapper Doechii in February.

To celebrate the launch of Ruby, Jennie hosted an exclusive series of concerts titled The Ruby Experience. The intimate shows kicked off at L.A.’s Peacock Theater on March 6 and 7, coinciding with the album’s release. She later performed at New York’s iconic Radio City Music Hall and mesmerized a star-studded audience during her show at Incheon’s Inspire Arena, which attracted nearly the entire K-Pop industry.

Looking ahead, Jennie is scheduled to take the stage at the 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, adding another highlight to her impressive career. This marks a continuation of her Coachella journey, having previously performed at the festival twice as part of Blackpink. The iconic girl group, formed under YG Entertainment, made history in 2019 as the first K-Pop group to headline at Coachella, repeating the feat in 2023. Jennie, alongside her fellow members Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé, is also in the mix for a highly anticipated 10-city world tour this summer.
