Jin from BTS Drives Sales for Jin Ramen Campaign
Jin, a member of the globally renowned band BTS, is once again demonstrating his market influence with the recent success of his promotional campaign for Jin Ramen. Media outlet Asia Economy reports that special-edition packaging featuring Jin’s image has garnered enthusiastic support, resulting in remarkable sales both domestically in South Korea and internationally.
The Campaign Launch
On February 26, 2025, Jin was officially announced as the global ambassador for Jin Ramen. The brand’s Mild and Spicy flavors now prominently showcase his image on their packaging, contributing to the excitement surrounding the product.
Sales Surge and Fan Engagement
According to Asia Economy, social media has been buzzing with fan posts showcasing their purchases. An official representative from Ottogi, the company behind Jin Ramen, indicated that while specific sales figures are awaited, there has been a noticeable uptick in transactions on their online platform.
“There are many posts on SNS from fans in Korea and abroad certifying their purchases of Jin Ramen,”said one Ottogi representative.
Fans are expressing their delight at the campaign’s success. Comments flooding social media reflect this joy:
“Power of Kim Seokjin. .”
“”I’m stocking up on Jin Ramen because of the model.”Lmao Which one of you commented that?”says one netizen.
“Watching these sales skyrocket because of Jin is so satisfying. His power is on another level. This is what happens when a global star like Jin becomes the model. The sales speak for themselves,”comments an X user.
“The fact that Jin’s face is driving these sales shows how strong his influence is. So proud to see the Jin Ramen packages selling this well. King Seokjin’s impact is undeniable,”reads a comment on X.
The overwhelming interest in this campaign highlights the immense global popularity of BTS’ Jin and his capacity to elevate product marketing.
Ottogi’s International Strategy
Following this initial success, Ottogi is pursuing a bold global strategy aimed at capitalizing on the expanding trend of K-food, specifically K-ramen. Their plans include Jin’s prominent role in a global campaign for Jin Ramen, alongside a significant rebranding effort.
Recent reports indicated that a promotional video featuring Jin has already garnered over 900,000 views since its release on March 13, with its romantic drama-inspired theme resonating well with audiences.
Inspired by the success of the “BTS effect,”which propelled Samyang Foods’ Buldak Bokkeum Myeon sales following BTS member Jimin’s endorsement, Ottogi aims to replicate this success. They are strategically planning to change the brand’s English name from OTTOGI to OTOKI to simplify its recognition in foreign markets, with discussions set for their shareholders’ meeting on March 26.
Market Challenges Ahead
Despite these ambitious moves, Ottogi confronts significant challenges. Historically, its focus has been on the domestic market, leaving them trailing behind competitors like Nongshim and Samyang Foods in international sales. Recent data reveals that Ottogi’s overseas sales reached only about 10%, compared to Nongshim’s 37% and Samyang’s impressive 76%.
With plans to establish a production facility in California, Ottogi hopes to reduce both logistics costs and production times. However, construction has faced delays due to permitting issues, with groundbreaking now anticipated in the first half of this year.
To meet its ambitious target of attaining 1 trillion won in global sales by 2028—an increase almost threefold compared to current overseas revenues—Ottogi recognizes the necessity of delivering standout products.
Experts suggest that although BTS’ Jin boosts Jin Ramen’s visibility, a stronger brand identity is essential for competing against major players in the instant noodle sector.
“Ottogi needs to go beyond domestic success and develop a product that can truly capture global tastes. Without that, it will be hard to gain a solid foothold in the competitive instant noodle market,”an industry insider commented to Asia Economy.
What’s Next for Jin?
In addition to his work with Jin Ramen, BTS’ Jin is set to make an appearance as a fixed cast member on Netflix’s upcoming variety show, Daehwanjang Gianjang, scheduled for release in 2025.
