Preparations for the Season Finale of *Severance*

As the highly anticipated season two finale of *Severance* on Apple TV+ approaches, tensions are mounting, particularly for Lumon Industries as secrets unravel. This thrilling psychological drama has kept audiences on the edge of their seats, and the conclusion promises to provide answers and ignite fresh twists.

In a standout performance, Jen Tullock portrays Devon, Mark’s sister, navigating the labyrinth of conspiracies surrounding Lumon Industries. Season two has thrust her character into a dire situation, especially with the shocking revelation that her sister-in-law, Gemma, played by Dichen Lachman, is alive, contrary to earlier beliefs. This newfound information serves as a powerful motivator for Devon; it amplifies her resolve to assist Mark (Adam Scott) in maneuvering through the treacherous environment of this enigmatic corporation. Adding to her urgency is the potential corruption of her husband, Ricken (Michael Chernus), a celebrated author seduced by the allure of fame and success offered by Lumon.

The Stakes Higher Than Ever

As the finale approaches, Devon emerges as one of the few characters striving to assist Mark and Gemma, and perhaps save Ricken from Lumon’s seductive influence. The penultimate episode saw Devon devise a plan to align both Mark’s “innie”and “outie”selves, creating anticipation for a potential breakthrough in the finale.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Tullock shared her insights about the unfolding drama and the complexities of her character’s motivations and relationships within a shadowy corporate landscape.

Devon’s Dual Motives

When asked about her character’s intentions, Tullock emphasized the balance between familial loyalty and the urge to expose Lumon’s ominous agenda. “Devon’s anxiety for Mark initiated her involvement,”she noted. “However, as Ricken becomes more entangled with Lumon’s proposals for his literary pursuits, her protective instincts intensify, ultimately pushing her towards a more aggressive stance upon realizing the truth about Gemma.”

The Chemistry Between Devon and Mark

The onscreen sibling dynamic between Devon and Mark resonates deeply, a connection Tullock credits to her collaborative efforts with Adam Scott. “Our filming commenced during the pandemic, creating an unusual context for our interactions. Despite the physical barriers, we found genuine rapport, enriching the portrayal of Devon and Mark’s history.”Tullock commended Scott’s generosity and warmth as an actor, which enhanced their chemistry and provided a solid foundation for their characters.

Missing Scenes and Character Depth

Addressing the limited screen time between Devon and Ricken, Tullock acknowledged that some scenes featuring the couple were edited out. “It’s not uncommon for material to be cut if it doesn’t support the narrative flow,”she explained. “We had moments that highlighted their lives together—some comedic interactions that showcased their chemistry before the dramatic events unfolded.”She praised Chernus as a remarkable talent, capable of delivering an abundance of humorous, improvised moments.

Devon’s Emotional Journey

Tullock expressed her enthusiasm for exploring deeper facets of Devon’s character this season. “Devon’s initial focus in season one was primarily centered on supporting Mark. This season has allowed me to delve deeper into her backstory and her relationship with Ricken, highlighting the complexity of their marriage amidst external chaos.”She looks forward to exploring how their relationship evolves in future story arcs.

Devon’s Unique Voice

Reflecting on the unique dialogue style present in *Severance*, Tullock noted that her character’s authentic voice contrasted with the more surreal speech of other characters. “Dan Erickson’s exceptional character development grounded Devon in reality, which allowed me to portray her as a relatable, nuanced individual amid the bizarre environment of Lumon.”

Anticipations for Season Three

Looking ahead, Tullock expressed eagerness for the possibility of a season three, expressing a strong desire to uncover more layers of Devon’s story. “I would be thrilled to meet Devon’s innie. That would be a fascinating encounter!”
