Millie Bobby Brown Explains Her Decision to Marry Jake Bongiovi at a Young Age: “When He Proposed, I Was Like, It Makes Sense”

Millie Bobby Brown’s Journey to Marriage

In a recent episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, actress Millie Bobby Brown expressed her confidence in marrying Jake Bongiovi, the son of musician Jon Bon Jovi. Brown shared insights into their relationship, particularly touching upon topics like political views and parenting styles, which she sees as fundamental for their future together.

The Big Conversations

During her candid discussion with host Alex Cooper, Brown highlighted the importance of their conversations about significant life choices:

“When we started talking about politics and how we want to raise our kids, we started talking about… big things that I’ve never spoken about… To be able to even think about those things, I was like, ‘S—. Maybe I do want to be with him forever’.”

This moment of realization came during the couple’s lengthy discussions, leading her to ponder their long-term commitment. Reflecting on their engagement, Brown stated:

“But I obviously didn’t know if he felt that way… And then, when he proposed, I was like, it makes sense. Everything aligned.”

Just under a year later, in May 2024, the pair celebrated their wedding. Despite some public scrutiny about their ages — Brown at 20 and Bongiovi at 22 — the couple felt ready to take this significant step. Millie noted that marrying young is a common trend in her family, paralleling the experiences of Bongiovi’s parents.

Reflections on Swift Marriage Decisions

In the podcast, Brown further unpacked her motivations for marrying at such a young age. The couple’s four-year relationship, marked by shared responsibilities for pets and a deep bond, solidified her feelings:

“We’ve been together for four years. When we moved in together, we had dogs together… I thought, ‘Oh, I really don’t think I could ever see you as anything else. I don’t want to be with anyone else ever again.'”

Brown emphasized that her decision was influenced by their compatibility on numerous levels, particularly discussions regarding family values and future aspirations. However, at the time, she was unsure if Bongiovi felt similarly about their relationship:

“I didn’t know if he felt that way. We talked about marriage, but I didn’t really know when it was going to be. When he proposed, it made sense. Everything aligned.”

A Memorable Wedding Experience

As she recounted her wedding day, Brown admitted to feeling the pressure of perfection, even finding it amusing that she almost stumbled down the aisle because she was overly concerned about timing. Yet, after the ceremony, she allowed herself to appreciate the special moments, ultimately describing her wedding as “lightning in a bottle.”

A Life Together with Pets

Now over a year into their marriage, Brown and Bongiovi enjoy a vibrant home life on a farm in Georgia, featuring twenty-five barn animals and a combination of ten dogs that live indoors and twenty-three more in an outdoor rescue facility. This lifestyle was influenced by Brown’s parents who encouraged her to create a stable home away from the hustle of Los Angeles.

In other news, Millie Bobby Brown stars alongside Chris Pratt in the recently released film The Electric State, streaming now on Netflix.
