Chappell Roan Unveils New Single “The Giver”Following SNL Performance
During her electrifying performance on Saturday Night Live, pop sensation Chappell Roan delivered a powerful message about women and their strength with the line, “All you country boys, saying you know to treat a woman right. Well, only a woman knows how to treat a woman right. She gets the job done.” Dressed in a striking pink cowgirl outfit, the talented 27-year-old Grammy Award winner showcased her yet-to-be-released track, “The Giver.” Now, four months later, the country-pop anthem has officially launched following an extensive promotional campaign.
Innovative Marketing Strategies
To promote the single, Roan creatively embraced various personas in her marketing efforts. Last month, she shared an Instagram post of herself dressed as a lawyer, captioned: “The Lawyer. Ur ex’s worst nightmare + she gets the job DONE.” This was part of a series where she portrayed different service professions, such as a plumber, construction worker, and dentist, all emphasizing her capability to ‘get the job done.’ Each persona is represented by a unique vinyl single variant, totaling five releases.
In addition to her social media excitement, Roan and her team strategically placed eye-catching billboards in major cities like Nashville, New York, and Los Angeles. These billboards not only showcased her diverse characters but also included a hotline (620-HOT-TO-GO) that offered select previews of “The Giver.”

A Deep Connection to Country Music
“The Giver” epitomizes the quintessential country-pop vibe, rich with playful sapphic double entendres. While this track diverges from her earlier works, Roan revealed her familiarity with the genre, stating, “[It] was so fun to write [‘The Giver’]. I got to bring what I knew to the table because I’m a country girl.” During a recent event at the Grammy Museum, she expressed her lifelong affection for country music, recalling how it filled her childhood experiences from school bus rides to karaoke nights.
What Lies Ahead
This latest release marks Roan’s first country single since her rapid ascent to pop stardom. Her previous single, “Good Luck, Babe!” was launched in April 2024, just prior to her performance at Coachella. Although her next studio album is yet to be finalized, Roan hinted at its diversity, suggesting that it will not be strictly country.
“Right now I’m just making songs that make me feel happy and fun,” she stated. “‘The Giver’ is my take on cuntry xoxo. May the classic country divas lead their genre; I am just here to twirl and do a little gay yodel for y’all.”
