In WWE 2K25, developer Visual Concepts has unveiled an exciting new mode known as The Island. This innovative feature allows players to engage in collaborative gameplay with friends and competitors, but it comes with a significant limitation: it is exclusively available on current-generation consoles, namely the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Consequently, the PC version of WWE 2K25 will miss out on this mode entirely, leading to dissatisfaction among PC gamers.
Many players have voiced their concerns about the disparity between console and PC versions of the game. The pressing question remains: why has this mode been omitted for PC users, and might we see a change in the future?
Why The Island is Absent from the PC Version of WWE 2K25

One of the developers’ primary concerns centers on maintaining the game’s quality across various platforms. As one representative stated:
“It’s one of those things where we look at, can we ensure quality on all the different WeUs and different PCs? Because this game is basically maxed to the limits.”
This reasoning raises eyebrows, especially since previous installments, like NBA 2K24, successfully implemented similar sandbox MMO features. Critics argue that The Island’s design does not push technical limits, particularly given its simplistic environment populated by non-player characters (NPCs).
A more convincing argument from the developers focuses on the potential impact of hackers:
“Also, could the hackers basically destroy the economy or break the game in ways to where it ruins the balancing, it ruins the progression, and now you have a really unbalanced experience given how that mode is set up.”

For those unfamiliar with the game, The Island utilizes a virtual currency known as VC, which can be earned through gameplay and used to purchase in-game cosmetics or upgrade custom characters. The developers express concern that hackers could exploit the system, accumulating excessive VC and disrupting the game’s economy and balance.
While these concerns hold merit, it’s important to note that players can still exploit cheats and trainers when playing offline. Moreover, The Island’s progression system is notably arduous; players earn between 100 to 200 VC per match, which is minimal compared to the exorbitant prices for cosmetic items, some costing as much as 18,000 VC. Given this context, many players seeking more efficient paths to advancement might find hacking tempting.
The question of whether The Island will eventually be introduced to the PC version remains unanswered by the developers. While many hope for its addition in future updates, particularly as the initial excitement around WWE 2K25 wanes, the reality is uncertain. Given that WWE titles are released annually, ongoing support for older versions tends to decrease as the focus shifts to the next installment. As such, PC gamers may have to remain patient.
For now, WWE 2K25 is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
