The recent launch of FragPunk, a hero shooter from Bad Guitar Studio, has created quite a buzz in the gaming community since its debut on March 6, 2025. The game has garnered a remarkable player base, achieving a peak of over 100,000 concurrent players. Like many live-service competitive games, one of the major challenges is ensuring a fair gameplay environment, particularly in the fight against cheaters.
Combatting Cheating: 271 Accounts Banned in Three Days
In a recent update shared on the game’s official social media account on X, the developers reaffirmed their strong stance against cheating. They revealed that 271 player accounts were permanently banned within the first three days post-launch due to violations of their code of conduct.
Bad Guitar Studio enforces a zero-tolerance policy towards cheating, demonstrating their commitment to a level playing field for all players. Their dedicated Anti-Cheat team vigilantly monitors for infractions such as unauthorized cheat software and other unfair practices, taking decisive action backed by substantial evidence as outlined in the User Agreement. Their message on X embodies this commitment:
“FragPunk stays committed to fair play—no mercy for cheaters.”
In an effort to maintain the game’s competitive integrity, the developers have publicly disclosed the censored identities of all 271 banned accounts. Moreover, players are encouraged to report any instances of cheating by reaching out to the team at [email protected].
FragPunk employs the Phanuel Anti-Cheat system, which is a revamped version of NetEase’s NEAC that has previously proven effective in titles such as Naraka Bladepoint and Knives Out. This advanced kernel-level system operates at a deep level within the operating system, constantly assessing applications and processes to identify and prevent cheating.
As FragPunk’s popularity continues to grow, the developers will undoubtedly face increasing challenges in combating evolving cheating techniques. The gaming community is keenly observing how the team will adapt and fortify its anti-cheat measures to preserve the game’s integrity.
