Deal or No Deal Island Season 2 Episode 10 Recap
The highly anticipated Episode 10 of Deal or No Deal Island Season 2 debuted on March 12 and was titled Money to Burn. This episode marked the first of two significant eliminations before the players headed into the final excursion. Phillip Solomon was eliminated after David chose him over Parvati and CK, who were also in the bottom two contestants.
Ironically, this decision followed Phillip’s impressive win in the game’s Money vs. Power challenge. Many fans speculated that his large winnings may have contributed to his elimination, with a prevailing belief that a player who gained so much financial reward should be the one to leave.
Another critical factor in David’s decision stemmed from Phillip’s earlier comment, revealing he would target Parvati if he emerged victorious against the banker. CK had also signaled intentions to eliminate Parvati, compelling David to act strategically to protect his ally, Parvati. Consequently, he opted to remove Phillip from the game.
Fan Reactions to Phillip’s Elimination
The audience took to X to express their thoughts on Phillip’s unexpected departure. Some viewed him as a true champion, while others questioned his judgment throughout the game. One fan reflected:
“Actually, Phillip was the real winner in the end. He won the challenge physically and he won money so that he can make it in this world and have precious time that one can never get back once it’s gone..,”a fan said.
Conversely, others lamented the strategy that led to Phillip’s elimination. Comments included:
“Phillip should have dropped at the same time as David. That would have given Lete the power and SHE would have saved him. Dumb move and sad ending for Phillip,”said another.
“We didn’t find out who plays the banker tonight or who leaves. But from the previews, Pavrati is on the same side of that door as Phillip who was just eliminated. So Pavrati is most likely gone,”added a third.
“Phillip won more money on tonight’s episode of DONDI than the winners of The Traitors won for the whole season…,”wrote one.
Criticism and Strategy Insights
Critics of Phillip’s gameplay emphasized his misplaced trust in David, which allowed David to capitalize on his power position by selecting Phillip for elimination. Opinions expressed included:
“I don’t know why Phillip was so blind and gullible to believe & trust David who has an unbreakable bond with Parv over $75,000 when there are millions for the taking… dude what the hell!!!”an X user wrote.
“Honestly David sending out Phillip makes the most sense lol bc w him out it’s more likely the girls focus on each other over David. At least from his perspective that is. But also Phillip is his biggest physical competition,”wrote another user.
“Lol Phillip got played, why tf didn’t he drop fast so David didn’t get safety, so stupid giving that to him…,”commented one.
“I knew Phillip was getting eliminated. It’s his own fault. Why did he let David have power? He was never keeping you,”wrote one.
Challenges Faced in Episode 10
In this gripping episode, competitors contended with a challenging task involving five bags filled with $75,000 each, suspended dangerously over flames. Each bag accounted for a quarter of each player’s body weight. The player who forfeited their bag at the end could retain the $75,000 inside.
The challenge intensified as host Joe included an additional twist: contestants could opt for a case rather than money. The player securing the case with the highest value would earn immunity and gain significant “unprecedented power”at the Temple.
Lete was the first to relinquish her bag in favor of a $2.5 million case, effectively transferring the weight of her money bag to David. Parvati and Lete together dropped their bags simultaneously, resulting in a split on the case valued at $3 million. Parvati allocated her weight to Phillip, while CK directed hers toward David.
David accepted a case worth $2.75 million after Phillip urged him to do so, planning for a joint drop to split the winnings. In a display of trust, Phillip sacrificed his position to secure David’s safety.
