“WE WILL BE BUYING!” — Fan Reactions to LE SSERAFIM x Overwatch 2’s Exciting New Skins, Emotes, In-Game Challenges, and More

Blizzard Entertainment has once again joined forces with the K-pop sensation LE SSERAFIM to deliver an exciting array of exclusive content in their popular game Overwatch 2. Set to debut on March 18, 2025, this collaboration aligns perfectly with the release of LE SSERAFIM’s much-anticipated album, Hot.

On March 10, 2025, the official Twitter accounts @PlayOverwatch and @OWCavalry unveiled a thrilling teaser clip along with eye-catching posters. Gamers can look forward to a limited-time offering of new skins, emotes, and engaging in-game challenges, all dropping on March 18, 2025.

This marks the second collaboration between the acclaimed HYBE girl group and Overwatch 2, following their successful partnership in late 2023. That initial collaboration featured their English-language hit single, Perfect Night, along with a variety of themed in-game content.

Since the announcement, social media has been abuzz with enthusiasm as fans took to platforms like Twitter, Reddit, and dedicated Overwatch forums to share their excitement. One user on X expressed their eagerness:

“WE WILL BE BUYING!!!”

The upcoming collaboration is poised to bridge the K-pop and gaming communities, sparking joy and anticipation among fans.

“I’m so down for another Le Sserafim x Overwatch collab. Their integration into Overwatch and their concert at BlizzCon was so hype!”a fan wrote.

“These are sooo good. I think Illari and D.Va are my favorite but I need them all,”another fan shared.

“I hope that Roadhog makes an appearance as the K-pop superfan this time,”another X user added.

Additional fan comments further highlight the excitement:

“It’s actually ‘crazy’ that this song got popular in the Rivals space as a meme only for Overwatch to make it an actual emote,”an X user remarked.

“CRAZY EMOTEEEEEE oh I’m gonna be the most obnoxious Juno player on earth,”another fan joked.

“I immediately logged in and bought $50 of currency because I’m so excited,”another fan expressed.

Exciting Features of LE SSERAFIM x Overwatch 2 Collaboration

The creation of these new skins involves collaboration between Blizzard’s Korea Studio and LE SSERAFIM, ensuring that the designs reflect authentic K-pop aesthetics. The band drew inspiration from their own photo shoots, music videos, and the latest trends in Korean streetwear.

Tailoring the design process to include input from the band members, including insights from LE SSERAFIM’s Sakura, who played a pivotal role in shaping the skin aesthetics for Mercy, exemplifies the collaborative spirit behind this venture.

Dion Rogers, the art director for Overwatch, shared his experiences working closely with LE SSERAFIM in an exclusive interview with Polygon on March 10:

“We work closely with Le Sserafim as well, and the girls have their thoughts and ideas on what they like to see on the heroes. […] Le Sserafim actually contributed to the color designs. It’s very much inspired by their style, their fashion, and it was just cool to revisit those skins again and try to create a new palette for them.”

Rogers also highlighted the thoughtful selection of characters that would resonate with K-pop listeners, resulting in the choices of Mercy, Juno, D.Va, and Ashe for this collaboration.

“We imagine which hero on the team might actually listen to Le Sserafim or be into it. We imagine that they exist in a world of Overwatch. So Mercy, Juno, obviously D.Va is a huge fan of K-Pop, and Ashe.”

The upcoming partnership is set to introduce a wave of fresh cosmetics, allowing fans to deck their favorite heroes out in LE SSERAFIM-themed outfits. The characters that will be sporting new looks include:

  • Mercy: This beloved healer will don a chic new look complemented by a plushie keychain designed by Sakura.
  • Juno: A newcomer to the Overwatch lineup, Juno’s skin captures LE SSERAFIM’s bold essence with sleek designs and vibrant hues.
  • D.Va: Known for her dynamic personality and pop culture affection, D.Va’s outfit merges trendy streetwear with her iconic spiky bun.
  • Ashe: The audacious gunslinger will receive a reimagined look, fusing her Western attributes with modern K-pop fashion.
  • Illari: The solar-powered support hero’s attire reflects a combination of futuristic elements and traditional motifs.

Additionally, players who missed the earlier collaboration in 2023 will have a chance to acquire recolored versions of past skins for Brigitte, D.Va, Kiriko, Sombra, and Tracer. These “Blue Flame”skins offer a contemporary twist to the original designs.

Aimee Dennett, Associate Director of Product Management for Overwatch, noted:

“This time around, we wanted to be part of one of the pieces that’s celebrating their new album. While we don’t have a new song that’s specific to Overwatch, we had to celebrate K-pop culture, so we made a visualizer for one of the new songs off their album that we’re pretty excited about and a lot of extensive cosmetics for this collaboration.”

Mark your calendars for March 18, 2025, as this collaboration promises to intertwine the rhythmic beats of LE SSERAFIM with the thrilling universe of Overwatch 2.
