Tribeca Festival Lisboa Returns for 2025

In an exciting announcement made on Tuesday, the Tribeca Festival has confirmed that the second annual Tribeca Festival Lisboa will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, from October 30 to November 1, 2025. This festival aims to build on the momentum of its inaugural edition held in 2024, promoting a vibrant cultural exchange between the U.S. and Portugal’s creative communities.

Collaboration with Local Partners

This year’s festival is made possible through a collaboration among Tribeca Enterprises, the city of Lisbon, the Portuguese broadcaster SIC, and local streaming service Opto. Attendees can look forward to a diverse lineup, featuring an array of American indie films, Portuguese cinema, television series, podcasts, and music performances, along with comprehensive industry programming.

Tribeca’s Commitment to Artistic Communities

Jane Rosenthal, co-founder and CEO of Tribeca Enterprises, expressed enthusiasm about returning to Lisbon, stating, “Last year, the city welcomed Tribeca with open arms, providing a creative haven filled with inspiration and innovation. We are excited to come back for the second annual Tribeca Festival Lisboa, which serves as an international platform to showcase local talent.”

Rosenthal further emphasized the festival’s mission, remarking, “Tribeca believes that cities flourish when their artistic communities are supported. This partnership is significant to us, and we are honored to continue sharing our global platform with the city’s incredible talent.” The inaugural festival kicked off with the Oscar-winning film Anora, setting a high standard for future events.

Community Response and Future Aspirations

Francisco Pedro Balsemao, CEO of Impresa, spoke positively about the first festival, calling it “an amazing and unique experience for Portuguese audiences.”He noted, “We are thrilled to host this event once again, focusing on talent, quality content, and unforgettable discussions. We express our gratitude to Bob, Jane, and the Tribeca team for their unwavering support as we embark on this exciting new chapter together.”

Lisbon’s mayor, Carlos Moedas, also shared his anticipation, stating, “It is an honor to welcome Tribeca once again, and we look forward to the enriching experiences it will bring to our community.”

Expanding Global Reach

The Tribeca Festival is not new to international collaborations; it previously partnered with the Doha Film Institute to host the Doha Tribeca Film Festival for four years starting in 2009. In recent years, Tribeca has expanded its reach beyond New York City, establishing annual events in Los Angeles and Miami.
