Jenna Ortega Teases Upcoming Season of Wednesday at SXSW
During the premiere of her latest film, Death of a Unicorn, at the SXSW festival on Saturday, Jenna Ortega provided exciting updates about the much-anticipated second season of the popular Netflix series Wednesday. A highlight from this season will be a special appearance by pop icon Lady Gaga, whose role remains undisclosed.
Excitement Builds for Gaga’s Role
Ortega shared her enthusiasm with reporters on the red carpet. She expressed that the highlight of collaborating with Lady Gaga is simply being in her presence, stating, “It’s Gaga — just her presence alone, her face alone. She’s not only incredibly beautiful but incredibly talented, so I feel like she could stand in the corner and play a tree and she’d add something to a scene.” This insight reflects the high expectations fans have for their chemistry on screen.
Ortega Fans Out Over New Music
In addition to her role in Wednesday, Jenna Ortega mentioned her excitement for Gaga’s recently released album, Mayhem. Although she has yet to listen to it, she hinted at making it a priority during her travels: “I’m so unbelievably excited. I’ve been a fan of hers for such a long time, so I think maybe [I will listen] on the flight out of here.”
Death of a Unicorn: A Unique Family Adventure
Before returning to the world of Wednesday Addams, Ortega showcases her talents in Death of a Unicorn, a film directed by Alex Scharfman. She stars alongside Paul Rudd in a whimsical story about a father and daughter who inadvertently hit a unicorn with their car. This leads them to a wealthy pharmaceutical executive’s retreat, adding layers of comedy and fantasy through the film’s unique premise. The cast also includes notable names such as Will Poulter, Téa Leoni, and Richard E. Grant.

Persuasion to Watch the Film
While on the carpet, Ortega playfully encouraged attendees to watch Death of a Unicorn, stating, “There’s unicorns in the title — if you don’t want to watch it, it’s kind of lame. Just do it; what else do you have going on?” Her infectious enthusiasm is proving to be a major draw for the film.
Paul Rudd’s Praise for Ortega
Paul Rudd also expressed admiration for Ortega, noting her exceptional talent: “She’s just so talented and she’s also the coolest person. She’s so young, yet I can’t stand it when people say, ‘Oh, it’s an old soul.’ I’m like come on really, do you believe in angels too? Yet that being said, she’s an old soul,”he added with a laugh.
Death of a Unicorn is set to hit theaters on March 28.
