Actor Yoo Ah In Sells Home Amid Ongoing Drug Trial
Yoo Ah In, known in real life as Uhm Hong Sik, has made headlines recently by selling his property in Itaewon, located in Seoul’s prominent Yongsan District. This sale occurs against the backdrop of his ongoing drug-related trials.
Details of the Home Sale
The actor finalized the sale for an impressive 6.3 billion won (approximately $4,300,840). Notably, the transaction was conducted entirely in cash, without reliance on loans or mortgage financing.
Property records reveal that the ownership was transferred to a seven-year-old child named Park, who was born in July 2017. The home sale contract was executed on November 20, while the ownership officially changed hands a day earlier on November 19.
The Buyer’s Background
Reports indicate that the young buyer is the child of a couple who own a fashion brand, with the address tied to the ownership registration matching their residence.
Market Value and Sale Context
Interestingly, the home was initially valued at around 8 billion KRW (nearly $5,461,150), yet it was sold for a lower price, likely influenced by the actor’s legal troubles.
Yoo Ah In’s Legal Challenges
Yoo Ah In’s troubles extend beyond the sale of his property. He is currently embroiled in serious legal issues stemming from drug offenses, which include the illegal use of propofol more than 180 times between September 2020 and March 2022. Additionally, he faces accusations of acquiring over 1,100 sleeping pills through another individual’s prescription from May 2021 to August 2022.
Further complicating matters, it has been reported that Yoo was involved in smoking marijuana during three occasions in the United States earlier this year. The prosecution has now requested a four-year prison sentence during the second hearing of his trial, to which Yoo’s defense team has responded by filing an appeal.
Defense’s Plea for Leniency
In their plea, Yoo’s defense stated, “He did not intentionally violate the law or regulations, but developed an addiction to sedative drugs due to an already physically and mentally difficult situation.”They highlighted the actor’s loss of his father in August as a contributing factor to his mental state.
Upcoming Court Dates
The next ruling in Yoo Ah In’s trial is anticipated on February 18, 2025, as his legal battles continue to unfold.
